I’ve been pretty quiet on social media, and that is because some big changes have been in the works! I have officially taught my last Birth Boot Camp class and attended my last birth as a doula. Beginning in a few weeks, I will be starting my journey towards becoming a marriage and family therapist!

It has been the most incredible honor to walk with families through their pregnancies and births. You all are a part of me and have truly taught me so much over the years. Ending this chapter is very bittersweet and yet it also feels right. My deepest desire is not to leave the birth world, but to contribute to it in a new way. So I hope this isn’t goodbye, but so long for now.

Even though this page will not longer be active, I can still be reached through its messaging system. I look forward to serving your families in a new way very soon!
Beth 💙

Like their post said, I am a doula with Born 🙌🏼. I love those midwives and what they have to offer Wichita. I am taking clients with them BUT I am ALSO taking my own private clients!
I do take a limited number of clients each month (to ensure I am present, energized, and awake 😉), so be sure to reach out if you are even thinking of hiring me so we can get you on the calendar. 💗💗

Determination, strength, and teamwork.
A brand new mama birthed in this beautiful birth center this week. She and her partner prepared with Birth Boot Camp, choosing compassionate care providers ( ), hiring me as their doula, walking every day, and eating well.
Her hard work paid off. She trusted her body throughout her labor. When one of us would offer a suggestion or affirmation (yes you can!, relax your belly, you are so strong...), she took it! You could see her body relax into the unknown-ness of labor.
Her strength was incredible. When she thought she was pushing as hard as she could, she would then push even harder. When a contraction would begin to over take her, she would instead choose to move and sway her body with the sensation.
And this team. This was a dream team in my opinion. Her partner was along side her with every single step of her preparation. He was vulnerable and real during labor. Saying the best words he knew in the moment, asking when he didn’t understand, and kissing this beautiful mama when he was so in awe of her. The midwives held such amazing space for this mama to labor in her own way. In her own time. They didn’t leave her stranded, though. The moment she needed support they stepped right in (check out my stories for proof of that!). I’m pretty much the worst at tooting my own horn, but having doula support completed this team. I got to get to know them in class for 10 weeks and also at our own meeting, so we had a connection. I knew them and what they wanted and I helped them get there. I drew a bath, brought cold compresses, gave drinks of water, massaged, offered encouragement. But most of all, I was a steady presence of confidence and unconditional acceptance.
This birth (which the whole story is not mine to tell 😉) did not take place by accident. They didn’t just get lucky. They had an amazing birth because they prepared for it. Body, mind, and soul. Nothing went perfectly, but they set themselves up for a really positive, wonderful start to parenting. They made this happen. And you can too!

Finally got meet all the babies from the summer class! The take-aways from our reunion— labor is hard work! Whatever a woman does during labor (no matter how crazy or unexpected 😜) is totally fine. Sometimes denial is a good thing 😉 and makes your labor seem quick! Having a voice and speaking up is your right as a patient/consumer 💪🏼. So proud of all these amazing people and I can’t wait to see them for a refresher class someday🥰😉

✨Reboot Refresher✨
This beautiful couple has one baby already and is expecting their next any day now. I have the honor of being their doula for BOTH births 🤗. They took online last time (as I wasn’t teaching yet) and now need to go over all the basics of labor & birth again.
So we met for a Reboot Refresher! It’s a one-time 3 hour class that offers experienced parents a quick review of everything important to have an amazing birth!
We take time to process through the last birth experience, go over labor positions, birth plan, and how to make this another wonderful experience.
I offer them one-on-one so the everyone has the privacy they need and the convenience of their home (because now their are other kids involved and it’s hard to leave for 3 hours 😜). DM or email me to learn more- beth@mamabearbirth.com

Almost all the babies have been born from my summer class (so almost reunion time 🙌🏼), and tomorrow is the last class of the fall series 😥. The circle of life. Time moves on. The winter class will start December 5th on a THURSDAY (new night to avoid Christmas and New Years)! Link to sign up in bio.

I’m in my 8th year as a mother. If I’m not at a birth or teaching a class, I’m home with my kids. This is where I’m choosing to be and it can be incredibly beautiful. But I’m in a season where I’ve felt very alone, not always lonely, but definitely alone. Many of my fellow mom friends aren’t at home any more for one reason or another, and I have found my days becoming very monotonous doing the normal, repetitive tasks of a mother caring for her children. Sometimes I feel quite forgotten and overlooked, and almost never understood. So when I’m on a walk listening to a Voxer from a dear friend or plugging in a podcast, it’s because I’ve spent the day being as present as possible and now I need a moment. I know many of you mothers can relate! The grind of this daily work is real and very challenging. Mamas, I see YOU! I am thankful for you and your huge hearts that keep on giving way after you feel like you can 💞. Know that even though motherhood is very isolating, you are doing the most important work. And this season will pass, and we will move on to being wise, older women who can come around and support these young mothers like other are (hopefully) doing for us ✨.

✨Connection✨
If for no other reason, take to connect more deeply with your partner. No matter what “kind” of birth you’re planning, you are about to be PARENTS and it will go much more smoothly the more attuned you are to each other.
But also take the class to learn how to help yourself have a more comfortable, connected birth 💗. Sitting on a chair, toilet, or birth stool:
Benefits:
Widens hips to help baby come down
Supports mom with/without a partner
Partner can:
Massage, give counter pressure, double hip squeeze, and give encouragement

✨Birth Consultation✨
One of my favorite ways for women to find out what choices they have for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in Wichita. I meet with women and their partners over a cup of coffee (or herbal tea 😉). I answer all of their questions and they can ask me anything about the birth world!
We talk about what doctors and midwives align with their birth wishes. We talk about child birth class options, amazing doulas, and vital resources Wichita has to offer during the postpartum period.
This is different from a doula interview because this meeting isn’t about hiring me. It’s about having a neutral expert that has supported many women over the course of 5 years hold space for you to figure out what choices are best for you.
If you do end up hiring me as your doula, the payment of the birth consultation will be put towards your fee 💞🙌🏼!

Read on to hear about my results 😊. Most people don’t realize how long labor can last. The average first time mom is in labor for 24 hours!! That’s from the first early labor contraction to the last. That is/can be a long time! So many factors play in to how long your labor lasts. Like induction, emotions, people, past experiences, birth place. My 1st-3rd babies are as follows: 💙💙💚. How long were your labors?
