Have you been to Nicodemus? It's historic because it was an all black town years ago, and they have been celebrating who they are for years.

It's almost here! The Homecoming Emancipation Celebration is this week starting on Thursday!

Come join the fun with music, food, games, a parade and so much more and these events are open to the public.

This year will be the 147th anniversary of the Nicodemus Homecoming, the celebration is hosted by The Nicodemus Homecoming Emancipation Celebration LLC, and the National Park Service is excited to participate in the weekend of events.

The Township Hall will be used for different events throughout the weekend on top of being open as a visitor center, so keep in mind that typical National Park Service visitor services such as tours and viewing the park films may be limited.

Remember to come on down to Nicodemus Thursday July 24th through Sunday July 27th to be a part of this wonderful celebration.

For more information and the tentative schedule of events visit the website for The Nicodemus Homecoming Emancipation Celebration LLC,

We recently had the privilege of attending the National NAACP Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina—an inspiring gathering of over 1,500 dedicated advocates from across the country. We’re proud to share that Lavonta Williams was elected Secretary of Region IV and appointed to the National Resolutions Committee, a testament to her steadfast leadership and commitment to justice.

Wichita was well represented with four attendees this year, and we’re hopeful to grow our delegation even further next July in Chicago. The convention delivered powerful messages, renewed energy, and a clear call to action—each of us returned home with renewed purpose and momentum.
