A special heartfelt thank you to Stephanie Hale on her 10-year anniversary volunteering at WCH. A decade of sharing her smile and helpfulness with patients, visitors and staff, along with the inspirational quotes she brings in and distributes to our desks weekly – truly a wonderful example of our WCH purple team!

When asked what caused her to initially sign on as a volunteer Stephanie replied that she was talked into it by the then Volunteer Coordinator Gogi.

What has kept her coming in each week for 10 years, she replies: I love the people at the hospital and love interacting with the patients!! It fulfills my desire to be of service!! It is very satisfying to know you have made someone’s day better...whether it is an employee or a patient!

Stephanie has helped in patient registration and visiting patients in Acute Care along with many special assignments, like last month’s evening Chamber Mixer, which occurred on her actual 10th year anniversary date.

When asked if she had a favorite story about being a volunteer at WCH, Stephanie recounted the time she was visiting with a patient and asked how they happened to come to Wickenburg. The patient replied: By ambulance! because they lived in Salome. A big belly laugh began their conversation.

We’re so grateful that Stephanie chose to volunteer at WCH and fortunate that she continues to do so!

We are excited to begin the second cohort of the Healthcare Marvels - An Adventure in Rural Healthcare Jr. Volunteer program on September 16th.

WHS JAG would like to thank Wickenburg Hospital CEO, Jackie Lundbland, and WCH Volunteer Coordinator, April Taylor, for presenting on the new internship opportunities at WCH. The Healthcare Marvels program only requires a commitment of 3 hours a week and allows high school students to observe different departments in the hospital. Steps for becoming a volunteer at Wickenburg Community Hospital:

1. Complete Volunteer Application: Fill out the volunteer application form provided by Wickenburg Community Hospital. This form typically includes personal information, availability, interests, and any relevant experience.

2. Interview with Volunteer Manager: Once your application is reviewed, you'll be contacted to schedule an interview with the Volunteer Manager or a designated representative. 3. Complete Universal Background Check: As part of the hospital's commitment to safety and security, all potential volunteers are required to undergo a universal background check. This background check helps ensure the safety of patients, staff, and other volunteers.

4. Complete Drug and TB Test: To maintain a healthy and safe environment within the hospital, volunteers are required to complete a drug screening and tuberculosis (TB) test. These tests are conducted at the hospital.

5. Volunteer Orientation: Once you have completed the above steps, you'll be invited to attend a volunteer orientation session. During this session, you'll receive important information about hospital policies, procedures, safety protocols, and your role as a volunteer. Additionally, you may receive specific training related to the department or area where you'll be volunteering.
