As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to thank our incredible community.

Throughout October, we’ve seen so much strength, compassion, and unity — from those who wore pink in support, to survivors who shared their stories, to everyone who took time to schedule their mammograms or encourage a loved one to do the same.

Your actions remind us that awareness isn’t just about a month — it’s about a movement that continues all year long.
Together, we’re spreading hope, encouraging early detection, and supporting those impacted by breast cancer every step of the way.

Let’s keep the momentum going — because every conversation, every screening, and every show of support makes a difference.

🩺 : The Birth of the Stethoscope

Today, we’re turning back the clock to 1816, when a French physician named René Laennec changed the way doctors listened to the human body forever. Before Laennec, doctors would place their ear directly on a patient’s chest—a method that was often awkward and, in some cases, inappropriate.

To improve this, Laennec rolled up a piece of paper into a tube, creating the very first stethoscope. This simple invention allowed him to hear heart and lung sounds more clearly—and it revolutionized medical diagnostics.

Fast forward over 200 years, and stethoscopes are now sleek, high-tech instruments that are a symbol of trust, care, and the doctor-patient connection. From a rolled-up piece of paper to cutting-edge acoustic and electronic devices, the journey of the stethoscope is a testament to innovation in healthcare.

💙 Fun fact: Laennec originally called his invention a “stethoscope,” which comes from the Greek words stethos (chest) and skopein (to look or observe).

Today, we honor not just the tools, but the curiosity and ingenuity that drive medicine forward.

🚨 Did you know that colorectal cancer is on the rise among adults under 50?

This concerning trend deserves our attention — but the good news is, there are steps we can take to protect our health and the health of our loved ones. 💙

Experts believe that diet, exercise, and weight management may play a role in this increase. The key is awareness and early action.

Here are some ways to lower your risk:
✅ Eat a healthy, balanced diet
🏃‍♀️ Stay active with regular exercise
🩺 Talk to your healthcare provider about screenings — most guidelines now recommend starting at age 45
⚠️ Be aware of warning signs like blood in your stool, abdominal pain, or unexplained weight loss

Early detection saves lives. If you have concerns, reach out to your healthcare provider. We’re here to support you and our community in maintaining lifelong wellness.
