Lennart W. Lindahl

Longtime Wilbraham resident, Lennart W. Lindahl, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Born in Springfield, he was son of the late Otto and Margit (Jakobson) Lindahl. He worked as a tool designer for many local manufacturing companies for many years.

Len, along with Ruth, his wife of 65 years, loved spending time with his family and friends. Paul S. Vadnais

Paul S. Vadnais, 79, died on Easter, after spending four days with his beloved granddaughters, son and daughter-in-law. “Grampy,” as he was known over the past 17 years, split his time between his condo in Agawam, MA, and his son and daughter-in-law’s home in New Canaan, CT.

While his death was sudden, his last day was exactly what he wanted. He went to Easter Mass in New Canaan with his oldest granddaughter. He had many helpings at Easter Brunch at his family’s country club, including a caramel latte that he said was better than Dunkin Donuts. He then drove home, where he died peacefully.

Grampy was born in Springfield, MA, on December 26, 1946, to Helen and Roger Vadnais. He was the middle child. His younger sister, Nancy Vadnais, predeceased him in 1998. His older sister, Carol McMinn, survives him in Wilbraham, MA. His marriage ended in divorce in 1983, and he never remarried.

His formative years were in Wilbraham. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1964. Initially, he worked in his father’s construction business. Later he went into sales. Some of his best memories were of being a vendor at the Big E. He enjoyed the camaraderie. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. And for the past 36 years, he was a member of Fitness First in Feeding Hills.

Grampy’s best and happiest memories were with his granddaughters; Virginia, Phoebe and Astrid Sullivan. He spent half of every week with them, driving them around, making them breakfast, and being coerced into taking them for sugary treats. He was as great a grandfather as anyone could imagine. He was also a tremendous help to his son Paul Sullivan and daughter-in-law Laura Po***ck. He will also be missed by his friend Genevieve Hall.

In addition to his sister and son’s family, he leaves his nephews; Chuck McMinn (Kimberly) of Charlotte, NC and Roger McMinn (Kate) of Monson, MA. His niece, Nan Hee McMinn, predeceased him last year.

A Mass to celebrate his life will be held at St. Cecilia’s Church, 42 Main St. in Wilbraham on Saturday, April 18, at 11am. A reception will follow in the Athenaeum at Wilbraham & Monson Academy. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in his granddaughter Virginia’s name to New Canaan Mounted Troop, Attn: Development Office, 22 Carter Street, New Canaan, Conn., 06840. He shared a love of horses with her.

Raymond "Rick" Recor

Raymond “Rick” Recor , 73, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Springfield to the late Wilfred and Catherine (McKee) Recor and was the founder of Rick’s Auto Body in Springfield, MA in 1973. Rick’s passion for cars began at 5 years old when he would follow his father to work washing and cleaning cars. At 16 he worked in a body shop sanding and taping cars to be painted. After a year he grew bored of that and worked at Central Chevrolet as a painter. He then worked at Beaulieu Chevrolet, Atlas Auto Body and Oliver before he realized he needed to start off on his own. He quit school in 10th grade and he began his love for his own business. His 1st shop was a 2-stall shop on Oakdale Street in Springfield, then moved to a 6-stall shop on Verge Street and eventually moved to his current location on Pasco Road in 1997 where he employs 45 employees. His dream was to run a shop whereby all demographics would feel comfortable doing business knowing that people drive cars from 16 to 99 years old. During a trip to Florida, he noticed a billboard with a classic 1955 vehicle on it. He returned to Massachusetts wherein he began a billboard campaign where at one point he had 30 billboards in the area. The billboards put him on the map, and he was off and running to new heights. His billboards were clever, amusing and never used more than 7 words but caught the eye of many drivers. To this day, customers still recall his billboards from decades ago. Rick’s commitment to excellent customer service and quality workmanship lives on today. His motto has always been “treat people the way you’d want to be treated.” Rick was proud that he was a member of the community and proud that his shop is still locally owned and operated to this day. He felt a responsibility to his community and was grateful that the community supported him in his endeavor which will continue with his family. Rick loved traveling around the world and experiencing new restaurants during his travels. He also enjoyed many hobbies; one of which was his motorcycle. His numerous trips out west on the open road were shared by many of his friends. In addition, he relished his fishing trips in Alaska and The Cayman Islands. However, the most important thing in Rick’s life was his family and family of friends. His extreme generosity was his love language. He loved being able to do for others. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Paul Recor and Linda (Waloweek)Recor and his father-in-law Leo Tarpinian. He is dearly missed by his wife of 43 years, Mari Tarpinian, mother-in-law Lucy Tarpinian, brother-in-law Gary Tarpinian, (Paninee Theeranuntawat), sister-in-law Susan Tarpinian, (Carlo Damato) and niece Ariana Tarpinian (Steven Escaravage), his nephews; Michael Recor and Patrick Recor. Rick believed we need to train and develop the next generation of technicians. He accepted many interns from the neighboring trade schools such as Putnam, Pathfinder and Dean Technical High School. He felt if we do not take the time to develop the next generation, the industry will not thrive. Many of these interns became permanent employees of his and hold major managerial positions in the organization today. We would like to thank all the employees of the Rick’s Auto Body family, past and present, as Rick loved them and was extremely grateful for their dedication and hard work. He always said he had the best employees in world. We would like to thank the professional staff in the MICU of Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA; especially Dr. Akmal Sarwar. We would also like to thank the healthcare professionals at Dana Farber Cancer Institute; especially Dr. Robert Haddad at Head and Neck oncology in Boston, MA. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 9:00am-12:00pm, concluding with a Memorial Service at 12:00 noon at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 or to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, 41 Burlington Mall Rd., Burlington, MA 01805.

Helen Liaskos

Helen Liaskos, a beloved mother, grandmother, thea, nouna, and dear friend of many, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the age of 98.

Helen was raised in Rockaway Beach, New York, along with her beloved older sisters, Georgette and Irene. She was fortunate enough to grow up one block from the ocean, inspiring a lifelong love of the beach – which she passed on to all of her family.

At the age of 24, she married her cherished husband, Stephen, to whom she remained married to for over 45 years. Together, they raised their two children, Maria and Peter, in Riverdale, New York.

Helen was a devoted parent who always emphasized the importance of family. With characteristic warmth, she welcomed Maria's marriage to Tom and Peter's marriage to Carrie. In later years, Helen's greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen, and Luke - delighting in their accomplishments and activities.

Throughout her life, Helen was known for her kindness and empathy, as well as her strong convictions and gracious demeanor. She is fondly remembered by many for the gentle guidance and heartfelt encouragement she offered to family, friends, and neighbors alike. Her interactions were infused with thoughtful regard, making even brief encounters feel meaningful.

Helen's Christian beliefs were a core part of her daily life. She drew strength from her Greek Orthodox Christian faith, and steadfastly attended religious services at several parishes in the greater New York City area.

Prior to her retirement, Helen enjoyed close to 25 years of employment with Paine Webber (which subsequently became UBS) in Manhattan. There, like everywhere else, she was well regarded, and greatly missed upon her departure.

During the early years of her retirement, she remained in NY and enjoyed many celebrations and gatherings with her son Peter and family. The last 10 years of her retirement Helen resided in Massachusetts to be close to her daughter Maria and son-in-law Fr. Tom.

Funeral services and burial will be attended by family and close friends in NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston Camp (MBC) in Contoocook, NH (www.metropolisofbostoncamp.org) or to the Smile Train charitable organization at www.smiletrain.org

May Helen’s memory be eternal.
