If you get a full 7-9 hours of sleep and still feel unrested, here are a few possible causes : a) you’re under a lot of stress b) your circadian rhythm may be off due to lack of sleep hygiene c) you’re in a calorie deficit (which is also a stressor)

If you can work on eliminating the cause or reducing it and do the above, you may find that you’re more rested and energized for your day.

Working in home health, I have to pack smart when it comes to my snacks. Since, I’m in the car, I can’t heat up my lunch and I often prefer finger foods for easy grabbing when driving. So, I opt for high protein snacks such as these quest cheese crackers or cheese stick paired with veggies to satiate and hold me over until I get home for a full meal.

It’s crazy to look back and see all the hard work I put into becoming a nurse to help people and then entering the workforce and realizing how all the systems in place really fail people and their health. They’ve created a system that puts a bandaid on people’s symptoms and neglects the root cause of their illness. It really feels like our healthcare is “sick care.” I forget that the reason I became a nurse is so that I can eventually open up a business that not only prevents illnesses, but allows the individual to thrive. So, while I’m working as a nurse in the meantime, I’ll gather ideas, plan and map out a system that truly helps people help themselves.

Okay, yes it’s been a minute since these photos were taken, but I’m a perfectionist and wanted it to be cohesive with my feed. Thank you for .photography for not only giving me the opportunity to photograph my passion for pole, but for also pushing me to participate in the showcase. It’s not only opened my love for choreo but opened possibilities for the future.

I’m so excited to start my nursing journey this upcoming Monday. I’ll be working in home health and I’ll be sharing vlogs and posts to bring a little more awareness to this field as it’s rarely discussed in nursing school (if ever discussed).

Not everyone who goes through nursing school is meant to work at the hospital, and that’s okay! It doesn’t make you any less of a nurse than those who do. But, that being said, I was a little confused what area of nursing I wanted to dive into. After a little research, a few areas peaked my interest and home health is one of them! Hopefully I can experience a few of those areas and shed some light what it’s like to be a nurse that isn’t working in the hospital setting.

A friend reminded me that I was not eating enough for the amount of activity I was doing. And, she was right.

I had been in a deficit, and never completely exited out of it. I’ve been comfortable with my intake as it had been one that felt good with my lifestyle and hunger levels.

The PROBLEM is, if you significantly increase your activity levels, you may need a small adjustment to your diet, your sleep and a reduction in stress loads.

▶️ This doesn’t mean a large increase in calories with the mentality “I can eat whateverI want” ‼️

✅ It means you may need more rest periods, more sleep, and a slight adjustment of macros and calories.

If you don’t - you may experience:
▪️fatigue
▪️ increased stress levels
▪️ insomnia
▪️illnesses eg colds
▪️aches/ pains in joints
▪️ muscle injuries

YES! It is easy to lose weight. It’s easy to cut out carbs, to start cardio, to start a fad diet AND lose the weight. It is HARDER to keep the weight off.

In order to keep the weight off, you must be willing to execute healthy habits consistently. Pick habits that you can keep up with and that you enjoy. The weight loss may be slow, but you will be healthier and happier because you will be keeping the weight off.
