Soon-to-be Saint Bartolo Longo is a radiant sign of God’s boundless mercy — proof that no one is beyond redemption. Once lost in darkness as a satanist, he answered the patient call of Christ and became a priest devoted to Our Lady of the Rosary, dedicating his life to spreading the Gospel and building the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii. Truly, “where sin increased, grace abounded all the more” (Romans 5:20).

Inspired by witnesses like Bartolo, the “God Writes Straight with Crooked Lines” Trail winds through beautiful, wooded hills — a sacred journey where prayer meets the stories of saints whose lives took difficult and unexpected turns toward holiness.

Pilgrims will encounter Saint Josephine Bakhita, who forgave her captors and proclaimed, “If I were to meet the slave traders who kidnapped me, I would kneel and kiss their hands, for without them I would not have known my Lord.” They will meet Saint Monica and Saint Augustine, whose tears and conversion teach us that “our hearts are restless until they rest in You, O Lord.”

As we continue this work of grace, we pray for a swift and favorable ruling from the courts, so we may keep building on this sacred ground — a place where every step proclaims that God truly writes straight with crooked lines.

This Sunday, October 19, Pope Leo XIV will canonize 7 new saints! Join us for the Canonization Mass LIVE at 4:30 am ET | 1:30 am PT, with a repeat at 12:00 pm ET | 9 am PT on Salt + Light TV.
