Eating whole citrus fruit regularly improves your cardiovascular health! How? One particularly fascinating study demonstrated that hesperidin in oranges modulates the gene activity of white blood cells so as to protect against inflammation and atherosclerosis. Want to feel more energetic? Physical activity determines the relative number and volume (size) of mitochondria in the skeletal muscles on a day-to-day basis! Two months of vigorous exercise doubles the number of mitochondria in skeletal muscles! The more powerhouses you have, the more energetic you are! contrast, just two days of bed rest will decrease the number of mitochondria in your skeletal muscles by 10%.
