MaryEllen Audi

MaryEllen Audi (Hudanick) passed away and went to see The Lord early on Sunday morning 10/12/2025. She was the last surviving sibling of the double digit Hudanick ‘Hergy’ clan from Watkins St. in Swoyersville, PA. MaryEllen will be remembered by all those who know her by her infectious smile and sweet personality.

MaryEllen was born in March of 1939 and graduated from Swoyersville High School in 1957. She had a lot of good memories of the early days working at JS Raub but struck gold not long after that when she met her husband George ‘Junie’ Audi a few years after his discharge from serving in The Navy during the Korean War. They had three children, Pamela Do**es, George Audi, and Tammy Audi. They started their life together in Kingston and after five years moved to Jay St in Swoyersville where they built memories there with neighbors, friends and family for the better part of 50 years. MaryEllen raised her three children, loved to cook and bake, and she was a worker. She took great joy in transforming her home by painting and redecorating with new rugs and furniture to make her home cozy for her family and friends. She always worked extra to help provide for her family and loved making homeowners proud of their houses that she cleaned…and yes, you always took your shoes off in her house. MaryEllen loved playing bingo with her sisters, playing poker at holiday gatherings with the Hergy clan and one of her happy spots was sitting in front of a slot machine at the casino with a hazelnut coffee from Dunkin Donuts in her hand. Her church, her Lord and her Bible were very important to her and we know she’s in an extremely good place right now.

MaryEllen leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Gabriella Audi, Dylan Audi, Jake Miscavage, Maximillian Do**es and Nick Miscavage. After she lost her husband of 52 years, she spent a few years at home but shared her smile with the residents and staff at Serenity Care in Wyoming PA and most recently at 3rd Ave Health and Rehab in Kingston, PA where she was admired by everyone.

At her specific request, there will be no interment or funeral services. If you feel the desire to give, Candy’s Place in Forty Fort would be welcoming of that gift. Candy’s Place is a free wellness center helping cancer patients and their caregivers with counseling, massages, reflexology, tai chi, etc… Candy’s Place was extremely valuable and admired by MaryEllen’s beloved daughter Pam who lost her battle with cancer last year.

MaryEllen’s wishes were carried out by Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, 59 Parrish St. Wilkes-Barre

Mary Ann Gazey

Mary Ann Gazey, beloved wife, aunt, teacher, traveler, and lifelong learner, passed away peacefully at the remarkable age of 97. To know Mary Ann was to be reminded that life is best lived with curiosity, kindness, and a healthy dose of wit.

Born with a sharp mind and a soft heart, Mary Ann spent over 30 years teaching in the Macungie School District, instilling in her students not just a love of learning, but a love of life. She had a gift for making the everyday extraordinary—whether that meant solving a crossword puzzle over breakfast, coaxing a room into laughter with her quick wit, or teaching her family the art of Middle Eastern cooking straight from her church cookbook.

Mary Ann shared 60 devoted years of marriage with her husband, Mike. Together they lived adventurously, including a treasured chapter in France where she fell head-over-heels for the culture, cuisine, and cadence of life abroad. France remained her great love (second only to Mike and her family), and her smile grew widest when recounting stories of their time there.

Her nieces, nephews, and their children will forever treasure the joy of Christmas mornings with “Aunt Me”—when she patiently endured 4:00 a.m. wake-up calls from overexcited little ones, always greeting them with a smile, no matter how much sleep she had sacrificed. For others, it was her presence at Sunday dinners, listening intently to football chatter or diving into another crossword puzzle. Each memory holds a thread of her warmth, patience, and joy in simply being with family.

Mary Ann never stopped learning or moving—her curiosity about the world and commitment to keeping both body and mind active gave her a long, full, and vibrant life. She was a devoted opera-goer, an enthusiastic traveler, a fearless embracer of technology, and a fiercely independent woman who led by example. Her mantra, “all problems have solutions,” will echo in the lives of those who loved her.

Above all, Mary Ann will be remembered for her deep love of family, her sharp intelligence, her adventurous spirit, and her ability to make those around her feel both at home and inspired. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the laughter she shared.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 10am in St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 905 South Main St, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Arrangements are by Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, PA

Wayne A. Namey, Sr.

Wayne A. Namey, of Wilkes-Barre, lost his battle with cancer on August 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of tireless service, steadfast advocacy, and unbreakable compassion for his community — and our shared humanity.

A proud graduate of Meyers High School, Wayne dedicated 22 years to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and was a proud member of UFCW Local 1776. NEPA was built on the backs of labor workers — and Wayne dedicated his life to preserving that history, and worked to secure the first-ever coal miner stamp from the US Postal Service. For many years, Wayne organized the NEPA Labor Day Festival in Wilkes-Barre’s Kirby Park. His work reflected an unwavering belief in fairness, dignity, and the power of collective action.

Wayne’s generosity extended far beyond the labor movement. He was a longtime volunteer with the Salvation Army, seldom missing a holiday season ringing the bell come snow, sleet, or rain. He also volunteered for Veterans Service Organizations, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Vision for the Homeless, and the Wilkes-Barre United Way, where he received the Unsung Hero Award in 2018. Known for his compassion toward those facing hardship, Wayne also spoke in local prisons about the dangers of alcohol addiction, offering hope and guidance to those seeking a new path.

Deeply engaged in civic life, Wayne lent his voice and energy to the campaigns of numerous public officials, including Senator Bob Casey, State Representative Eddie Day Pashinski, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright, and Mayor Lee Namey.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 41 years — and partner in advocacy and action — Joanne K. Namey, his son Wayne Namey Jr., his siblings George, Sandi, and Donna, his grandchildren Aiden, Joseph, and Ally, and his nieces and nephews that he loved like his own Emily, Gabby, Jacob, Billy, Olivia, Samuel, Luke, AJ, and Miranda, and his in-laws Donna, Bill, and Michelle.

Wayne will be remembered for his integrity, generosity, and embodiment of compassion. He didn’t just believe in the phrase “we are our brother and sisters keeper” — he lived it.

Friends and loved ones may call Wednesday, August 20 from 4-6pm at Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10am on Thursday, August 21, and interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Lehman.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Salvation Army or United Way in Wayne’s memory.
