Happy International Women’s Day

I truly admire the campaign Nike launched in 2020, “One Day We Won’t Need This Day,” and I felt it was important to share it again. Thank you, Nike!

Today, as we celebrate International Women’s Day, I want to acknowledge the deep concern I feel regarding how our world treats women and children. As Bacha Khan wisely said, “If you wished to know how civilized a culture is, look at how they treat its women.”

While it may seem like we’re moving backward, I believe that together, we are stronger than any challenges we face. Let’s uplift each other and forge ahead with hope and resilience. Happy International Women’s Day!

Happy birthday, Timothy!

Timothy Shepherd is not just a friend but also a confidant, the creative force behind the classy Dishing With Patricia video and audio. I have had the privilege of working alongside him for about 15 years, and he was a cherished part of the M3M family for a decade before that.

Tim is truly special, so let’s come together to celebrate and wish him a wonderful birthday!

Happy Belated Love Day❤️❤️

Every year, I’ve been joyfully refilling this red velvet Valentine box with fresh chocolates, for 16 wonderful years!

Not so much about being romantic, I just like the idea and the story of refilling the box.

In today’s time, everything is disposable we don’t realize traditions that you start for yourself, as filling a box of chocolates every year.

Chocolatier no longer fill the box, regulatory issues, so I buy expensive chocolate’s and fill it myself. I think I do a better job than they ever did, plus I get what I want.

Happy Black History Month In times like these, our prayers are more important than ever.

No matter how you refer to our living God, let us hold onto our faith—faith in each other, faith in our beliefs, faith in ourselves, and faith in humanity.

As a believer, I feel incredibly blessed throughout my life. There hasn’t been a moment when my prayers haven’t been answered.

In His name, we come together in prayer.

It’s 22° here in Philadelphia, but with the wind chill, it feels like just 4°. We’re in the midst of a major winter storm, expecting 8-12 inches of snow that will eventually turn into sleet and freezing rain. It’s been snowing since 2 AM!

Living in the city, we can count on the city to handle most of the snow removal. For the rest, we’ll hire someone to take care of our sidewalks, steps, and driveways.

It’s a bit nostalgic to think about the days when neighborhood kids would earn some extra cash shoveling snow for the folks on their street—especially seniors and single women.

I mention this because I have older friends who don’t have family nearby to help with snow removal. Many older adults still rely on snail mail, and if their walkways and steps aren’t cleared, the USPS won’t deliver their mail.

As I was writing this, a friend called to chat while cooking. They mentioned they’d been sitting by the window for an hour, hoping to see someone come by and shovel the snow—but it didn’t happen.

Where has our empathy gone? I believe one reason we’re in this situation is that we’ve forgotten about each other. We’ve lost sight of showing a little humanity.

Let’s not allow the world to change us. Whether it’s a snowy day or the sun is shining, there’s always someone in need.

It’s 14° here in Philadelphia, but with the wind chill, it feels more like 1°. Even so, if you have a furry friend or a four-legged family member, you still need to take them out, no matter the weather! Here are a few friendly tips to make it a bit easier:

**For You:**
- Dress in layers, and try to wear waterproof gear.
- Don’t forget your sunglasses—they’ll help with the glare off the snow!
- Remember to moisturize your face and hands to keep them protected.
- Limit your time outside to what’s necessary.
- And of course, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

**For Your Furry Friend:**
- Stick to familiar routes if that’s what they’re used to.
- If they’re not used to boots, make sure to moisturize their paws to protect them from the cold.
- When you come back inside, clean their paws to help them adjust back to the warmth of home.
- And don’t forget to give them plenty of water to keep them hydrated!

Take a moment to enjoy the beauty of the snow. It’s a magical time, even with the wind!

Happy Holidays:
This is the season of giving! While we all know the beautiful story of our Savior’s birth, it’s the selflessness behind it that really kicks off this spirit of generosity.

I truly believe we’re all here to lend a hand—not just during the holidays, but all year round. This time brings us together in a special way, and my hope is for peace and compassion to flourish in our world. We’re all in this together, looking out for one another. So, as we embrace this season of giving, let’s share a piece of ourselves with those who need it most.

Wishing you a joyful season of giving!

Today I had the wonderful opportunity to chat with April Ryan, who’s a White House Correspondent and MSNBC Political Analyst, just before she moderated a panel hosted by the NAACP called “From Coast-to-Coast: Data Driven Solutions for Health Equity.” The discussion focused on insights from the ACE Your Health Community Wellness Survey, which gathered nearly 23,000 responses nationally, with specific results for Philadelphia.

The panel featured:

- Dr. Chris Pernell, Director of the NAACP Center for Health Equity
- Dr. Roger Mitchell, President of the National Medical Association
- Dr. Nina Ahmad, Chair of Public Health & Human Services for Philadelphia City Council

Even though April had a packed schedule and was preparing for her commitments in Philadelphia, she took a moment to connect with me and Sakinah Abdulkahbir, AGPCNP-BC, who is the Director of Clinical Operations for Quality Community Health Care, Inc., and also one of my co-hosts on the Dishing with Patricia Daily Audio Podcast.

It was a truly inspiring moment!

Great work, thank you, NAACP.

Today in Philly at the “No King.” Protest.

Here are two little-known facts for you. If you’re curious about whether what we did today truly makes a difference, remember that the tide is turning. Keep the faith; faith isn’t tied to any religion or politics. It all begins with you.

The first recorded protest is widely considered to be a strike by tomb workers in Ancient Egypt around 1170 BC, which was successful in remedying their grievance. The workers, who were not being paid their due rations of grain, protested and the authorities quickly resolved the issue.

The first recorded rebellions were likely the Sumerian revolt around 2380 BC and the Nubian revolt around 2690 BC, both of which were ultimately unsuccessful. The first recorded successful rebellion against an oppressor was the Haitian Revolution (1791-1804), which successfully gained independence for Haiti and was a landmark victory for enslaved people seeking freedom.
