Before becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, Sue began her career as a teacher in Arizona. Her path led her to school counseling, where she worked closely with students from kindergarten through 12th grade—and discovered just how much young people carry with them.

Sue found a special connection with high school students and brings that same empathy, insight, and care to her work today at Red Bird. Her experience in education shapes her thoughtful, client-centered approach to therapy.

Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a gentle, body-centered approach to healing trauma — rooted in the understanding that trauma lives in the nervous system, not just in the mind.

Rather than retelling painful experiences, SE focuses on helping you become more aware of your body’s sensations and gently guiding your nervous system out of states like fight, flight, or freeze. This allows your body to release stored stress and restore a sense of safety and regulation — all at your own pace.
