Day 13 of 31 Days of Women In Power: Celebrating the women of New Roots Recovery Support Center - Wilkes-Barre

Today, we honor Lyndsay Guirin, Kelly Rowan, and Marla Chepanonis, the empowering women of New Roots, a transformative network of Recovery Support Centers founded to address the opioid epidemic's impact in Northeast Pennsylvania. Since 2018, New Roots has created safe, inclusive spaces for individuals in recovery to heal, thrive, and build long-term success through peer-driven services. Their dedication to fostering recovery, empowerment, and community continues to make a profound difference in the lives of many.

New Roots Recovery Center

  • The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Commission (SAMHSA) defines recovery as β€œa process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives and strive to reach their full potential.” The term β€œrecovery” is most often used in reference to addiction recovery, which includes individuals who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol and who are engaged in the process of improving the quality of life through healing. A community typically refers to a group of people living together in one place and/or a fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common interests, attitudes, and goals.
  • New Roots Recovery community will be a network of individuals who share the common goal of longterm recovery, balance and well being, and to offer support and fellowship to their peers.

Stay tuned for a list of the services that will be provided to those individuals seeking resources, that will help them to become better. We here at New Roots embrace Multiple Pathways to Recovery and Hope to provide a new experience for everyone whom walks through our doors!
