Did you know Dietitians review specific labs for your health and wellness?
Labs can help tell the story.
Dietitians learn the importance of labs in nutrition assessment during their education (Masters degree required, internship required, board certification required, continuing education required) .
How do I use labs?
When I LISTEN to their concerns and goals, I am searching for what could be involved behind the scenes (this is not found through AI!).
Unfortunately, insurance doesn't like to pay for many nutrition-related labs...but yet we know they can be the root problem of many medical problems.
And Normal- is not OPTIMAL!! Stay tuned for more on optimal lab values vs. Normal.
As a dietitian- we look at the whole person. We aren't looking at one sole issue, we search and find from our knowledge the root causes.
Examples: (key areas amongst others)
1. Low energy, fatigue, poor focus ; iron panel, B vitamins, thyroid
2. Depressed, low energy, poor bone health; vitamin D
3. Diarrhea, poor focus, skin, nails, bloating: celiac panel (to diagnose), B vitamins, vitamin D, electrolytes
4. Diarrhea, weight loss, high blood sugars: pancreatic enzymes lipase and amylase, B vitamins, electrolytes
5. Fertility issues: iron panel, folate rbc, vitamin B12, vitamin D, lipid panel, thyroid
These are just a few of many labs reviewed by Dietitians. For your conditions, for your wellness, for prevention, all labs are monitored.
After labs are reviewed, Dietitians make their recommendations to improve and treat.
