As a private non-profit health and human services organization, MFHS works to meet the health and nutrition needs of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s women, children and families with information, education, and quality care. Founded in 1971, MFHS has been preventing disease, promoting wellness, and empowering individuals to realize the promise of better health for over forty years. Today, we oversee a

nd support a network of health and nutrition centers in 16 Pennsylvania counties, serving over 90,000 women, men and children annually through four core programs:

-WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Nutrition
-Reproductive Health
-Nurse-Family Partnership
-Pregnancy Care

Registration is now open for the second Northeast Regional Maternal Health Coalition Seminar—a day dedicated to collaboration, learning, and advancing maternal health across our region.

Attendees will hear a welcome address from Mayor Paige Cognetti, gain insight into the State of Maternal Health in Pennsylvania, and hear from Sara Goulet, Special Advisor to the Secretary of DHS. The seminar will also feature networking opportunities, an update on the Northeast Regional Maternal Health Coalition’s ongoing work, continuing education opportunities, vendor space, and more.

In 2025, thanks to your support, MFHS was able to award the Kathy Dickerson Scholarship to 8 outstanding recipients. One of those recipients was Alexia S., who is attending Jersey College and pursuing a degree in Nursing.
