I saw a fellow SLP share this activity on Facebook and decided to give it a try—and wow! Parents, this simple activity sparks SO much language. We’re targeting words like up, more, again, balloon, big, small, fast, slow, and blow—all through play!

Sometimes the simplest activities create the biggest language opportunities 💬✨

At The Speech Train, we love using fill-in-the-blank phrases to support language development — but one simple strategy can make all the difference:

👉 Pause… a little longer than you think!

Many parents naturally wait a second or two before jumping in with the answer. But sometimes, giving your child just a few more seconds can be the key to unlocking their response. That extra moment allows them time to process, plan their words, and confidently fill in the blank.
