Today has been a day of celebration and reflection. Multiple times today Ripley has talked about how it “kind of sucks” that she isn’t spending her 22nd birthday at Chapman with her friends. But in the next sentence, she is thankful to be alive.
We are so very thankful to be able to celebrate our Ripley not just today, but everyday. Happy Birthday Ripley. We love you!

Weekly Update by Ripley

My week consisted of a few big things. The biggest thing was my trip to Orange (college town). So great to see everyone, such as my friends, professors, and our deans who I all spent a lot of time with. My supervisor from the University Program Board also came, it was so nice to spend time with everyone. I am so thankful to my department at my school for the special and unique birthday celebration they put on for me. Made me feel like I’m a valued student. It was so thoughtful.

I also had a birthday party at my house by school with a few of my friends cause we all have similar birthdays. It was so great to see all of them, I’m so grateful. I also think it’s awesome that they always try to include me even though I’m gone from campus. Then I came back home to Oregon.

I also went and saw my step-sister in the hospital cause she recently got knee surgery. It was great seeing her.

It was super nice and fun to go back, see all the people I spent a lot of time with, and stay at my house. But slightly weird that I’m not staying there anymore. But was so nice seeing everyone again. Got even more excited for graduation!!

At home I’m continuing to work on my memory, focus, and physical therapy. I started jogging which I never would have expected ever but I’m sure it makes my mom happy.

Thank you guys for always looking at these posts. Love all the support you guys give us. I love to look back at previous posts and look at the comments.

This is 100% Ripley update!!

Ripley Weekly Recap
On Tuesday, I read a book at home. It was super sweet. Also got Starbucks!!

Wednesday, met up for food with some of our neighbors. Super sweet and tasty! Also did appointments for Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech.

On Thursday, I went and got my nails painted green (my favorite color).

Friday, we did physical exercise at home like always.

On Saturday, I went to my uncle’s house and saw my cousins, grandparents, and another uncle. We did a fun run called Run for the Wild. It was 3.1 miles. It’s done to raise money for fighting forest fires.

On Sunday, we went to our favorite Asian grocery store on the way home from my uncle’s house.

On Monday we visited my stepsister Brooke since she had a knee surgery recently.

On Tuesday, I saw my stepsister again and then pho for lunch (one of my favorite meals) and some more bubble tea. I also helped out at our schools’s library as well as visiting our local library. For dinner, we had beef roast and potatoes

Writing this now, I have been doing a lot of physical things every day. It’s great to be with my family and our dog, Paisley. Still reading as much as usual. And still drinking a good amount of boba like back in California. Most of it has to be bought from stores and is canned. Excited to graduate in May!! So thankful to all my family for the help and for running this account. I love to look through it in my free time.

Nightly Update
Ripley decided today she was royalty and should be called Princess Ripley. It’s fitting as she went to the dentist to get a temporary crown on the broken tooth from the accident. As a reward for handling the dentist like a champ, her Majesty was treated to pho and a trip to the book store❤️.
She continues to get settled in at home and we spent the reminder of the day unpacking and reorganizing her room. She brought up numerous times her sadness and disappointment about no longer being at Disney+ or at Chapman. This has been common theme for Ripley these past few weeks. We discuss how much it sucks she isn’t where she wants to be. It’s wonderful how Ripley is self aware and her situation is not where she wants it to be. This shows she is having more awareness and knowledge of what is going on around her. While this awareness of knowing her current abilities are not where she wants them to be nor what she has been striving to become, we are so very grateful to have Ripley with us. She is here, where we can hug and talk with her❤️
Ripley and her family want to thank everyone who continues to follow along on her journey. Moving forward we are going to change the nightly updates to weekly updates. We are going to take a step back and focus on simply enjoying being with her. We hope everyone takes the time this week to simply “be in the moment” thankful to those who are in our lives. And how lucky we are.
Peace and Love Team Ripley❤️

Nightly Update
Ripley had a fun and eventful weekend! Yesterday, not only did we welcome home Paisley, we also went up to Portland to enjoy one of our favorite Broadway musical Les Mis. We enjoyed sharing the experience with friends and family❤️.
Today we continued on the tradition of Easter, where the girls have to follow string (all over the house) to their Easter baskets. This was a great PT workout for Ripley working on balance and navigating obstacles. Ripley spent the day periodically face timing friends and getting in family time with Grandma, Grandpa Rich and Evelyn before they headed home.
This weekend was a time to reconnect with friends and family, and continue building her thought processes, focus and memory.
We hope everyone was able to enjoy and celebrate this weekend.
Rest well Team Ripley❤️

Happy Friday!!! Ripley enjoyed her Friday by working out for over 2 hours this morning followed by making homemade soup for lunch. She topped of her evening by attending our local Senior Grad Night Easter Bingo Fundraiser. We started off the doubting we would win anything as our cards were not in our favor. I even bought from the baked sale thinking at least we would walk away with a batch of cinnamon rolls. However, Ripley was finally able to pull out the win! Looks like we will be enjoying ham for Easter!
Ripley continues to voice how excited she is to be reunited with our dog Paisley tomorrow!
Each day she is felling more settled into a routine and we are celebrating her being home. We hope everyone enjoys time with family and friends this weekend!

Nightly Update
Ripley’s day was pretty similar to yesterday. She is continuing to build a routine, which decreases her anxiety. One difference, since Ripley and mom were running errands in a nearby town, they decided to get sushi for dinner at their favorite place. It was a perfect way to end the day.
One more day until the weekend! Night Team Ripley!

Nightly Update
Ripley is getting back into her PT! She worked out on “the machine” for 50 minutes while watching a virtual hike around Smith Rock. She then hit the mat with some yoga and then weight training, overall completing 2 hours of exercise. Afterwards she earned a trip out of town to run some errands and enjoy bubble tea! She then headed to the school to help out in the library restocking books. This was a great activity for her to practice her memory, focus and concentration.
We then enjoyed the evening watching one of her favorite Kdramas and popcorn. ❤️
She is also counting down the days to be reunited with our dog, Paisley this weekend.
Rest well Team Ripley!

Nightly Update
Another day home!! We are slowly starting to build a new normal. She walks and does PT first thing in the morning as well as make her own breakfast. Being in the kitchen is great for her focus, concentration and making her use her left arm, which still has limited mobility.
Today she was helping Tim walk the fence line , clearing out limbs, bushes or whatever happens to get on the wires. She had a mishap going up the hill and slipped. She is totally fine, but decided she was done helping Tim with the cows. Yeah, I hear you Ripley, I don’t think it’s fun either. She just waited to walk until I got home.
We then spent the evening cooking, as it takes a bit longer to cook than before, relearning to follow recipes and directions, but she is happy to make some of her favorites❤️
We are so thankful to be home! Rest well Team Ripley❤️

Nightly Update
Ripley is starting to settle into a new routine now that she’s home. We are quickly learning a vague schedule is difficult for her, so we are creating a daily schedule. Today she went for an hour walk with Tim and our cat. Afterwards they spent some time doing yoga.
She then created a weekly menu and shopping list as well as headed out of town to the grocery store. The highlight of her day was visiting our school and reconnecting with the staff. We are lucky to come from a small and supportive community. It was wonderful to have people giving words of encouragement even if she doesn’t know them.
It has been wonderful being home and seeing her settle in to a new normal. Thank you for continuing to follow her journey!

Nightly Update
Final day of the RIP Tour! We enjoyed a brief morning breakfast with Carina before making the final leg of our journey home. We dropped Evelyn off at her place in Eugene, enjoying poke for lunch. We then made the final 2 hours home. I told Ripley to take a rest if needed, as sleep/nap is some of the best medicine for brain recovery. She told me “I never nap.” I now have proof that she does 📷. We finally arrived home and Ripley was greeted by our 15 year old cat. We are getting settled and very happy to be home. I have been coming back home every other week since Ripley has been at Craig. During that time, our house hasn’t really felt like home. The saying “ home is where the heart is” has been especially true these last 4 months. Tonight it finally felt like home❤️. We are glad to be home and to start a new routine.
Good night Team Ripley!
