Gibson was in a horrible car accident on 8/8/2024. This is to update his progress as he heals. God is good!

04/05/2026

Celebrated the Risen Lord today as a family. This was special as last year we were still in the PICU. God has truly blessed our family and may God bless you and yours on this Easter Sunday.

Gibby then and now. Drawing was one of his favorite pastimes and tonight after supper we sat down and resumed the practice.

This is then and now. Six months between the noodle eating sessions. We thank God for Gibby’s recovery and the blessing that he is.

Merry Christmas from Gibby and the fam. We are so blessed to have spent our first Christmas back home. We are thankful for not only Gibby being here to celebrate with us, but also how much progress he has made. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, support and prayers.

We are thankful to be home for the Christmas season this year. We once again did our “Christmas pizzas” and Gibby make a stocking. We thank God for the simple things that we sometimes once took for granted.

Happy Thanksgiving! It has been such a blessing to be home and not in the hospital for the holiday.

We are so thankful that Gib is here with us. He got to make his annual pies yesterday. We weren’t sure that would be a possibility last year.

Remember tomorrow is not guaranteed. We are certainly thanking God for our family and especially Gibson.

While not everyone was there today, these are some of the people that ensured Gibby’s welfare and our sanity while beginning the recovery from his TBI. We are grateful for their care and compassion in a very trying time. May God bless them and all their future patients.

Gib did some therapy at home today. He made us spice cake with cream cheese icing. It has him remembering ingredients and steps. It was great to see him in the kitchen again. He needed very little help with this. It was a sweet treat all the way around.

Had a pretty good day today. We got to see one of our favorite patient tech’s, Liz, while also staying at the Ronald McDonald House during therapy this week. It was great to see the people that made our stay in Tucson bearable over the last year.

Gib got to return to Encompass Rehab for a reunion banquet. It was awesome to see his nurses, therapists and techs! He smiled from ear to ear all night. Thankful for the many people that poured into his recovery.

Just a little Gibby update. We have been home now for a little over a month. We have been settling into our new normal. Gibson finally finished all his outpatient intake for rehabilitation at TMC. He has made progress, but will have PT, OT and Speech Therapy twice a week in Tucson. He made some short term goals of working on memory and endurance. When asked what his long term goals were he said “Doing normal things and having a job.” We will continue to walk this journey with him and we have no doubt he will continue to reach for the stars. Thanks again for all the prayers and support!

A nice surprise. After being in the hospital for nearly a year, it is almost impossible to express the gratitude for the incredible people that made that time bearable. Many of them become more like family than paid caregivers and their compassion is invaluable. The PICU at banner sent Gibby a care package and it truly made his day. Thank you all from the techs, nurses, doctors, and admin for making Gibby feel special.
