Wakame is a Brown seaweed and is a great source of calcium, potassium, selenium, and therapeutic polysaccharides, especially fucoidan. It will retain its quality for two to three years if kept dry and away from light and heat.

Our potatoes look great this year! We really like this fingerling called Amarosa. It is oh, so tasty! The pink flowers are pretty too.

We also grow German Butter Ball and another fingerling called Russian Banana.
We used to grow Almond Potatoes (another very tasty fingerling variety), but the yield kept going down, so we stopped.

It is starting to look promising for the grape harvest! We grow Concords, Canadice, Flames, Himrods and Suffolk table grapes, and recently also Tempranillo, a wine grape. We make wine with all of them, but eat a bunch too of course!
The second photo is of a new asparagus planting, now 3 years old. We hope to harvest some asparagus from these plants next spring, but have let them feed their roots so far. Asparagus is a super nice crop for our climate, as it gives us so much food in the spring, when there is not much other vegetables.

Garden abundance! The Yellow Crookneck squash plants and lemon cukes are giving us food every day now, and the Chestnut and Delicata winter squash will feed us all winter. These are our favorite kinds of cucurbits. We have been saving seeds from the Chestnuts from almost 30 years, and the seeds we planted this year were 20 years old!

We had a great time harvesting and drying Sargassum for , who use Sargassum to dye their collection of beautiful garments. This seaweed is considered to be an invasive specie. It is very beautiful though! We are also impressed by how OlderBrother created such varity of colors, and how great they look together.

How to use Sea Palm?

- You can eat Sea Palm straight out of the bag as a salty, crispy, jerkey-like snack. Kids absolutely love them, and it helps “ground” their energy if they have had too much sugar!

- Make a Sea Palm stir-fry:

- Make a veggie curry dish:
https://naturespiritherbs.com/curried-sea-palm-and-rice/

- Make a yummy marinated Sea Palm dish. Simmer it in a little water for about 30 minutes, allow it to cool, and add olive oil, garlic, ginger, salt, chipotle or other spices of your choice.

- Add Sea Palm to your favorite soup or pasta recipe! It cooks tender in about 30 minutes.
