🧪 New Insights into Lipedema Science. What Researchers Are Finding.
Recent scientific work is helping us understand what makes lipedema biologically unique, beyond being more than “just extra fat.” This image by the Cleveland Clinic illustrates the progression of lipedema in the legs.

📌 A 2025 peer-reviewed review shows that lipedema tissue has distinct cellular markers not seen in regular obesity, including a specific type of immune cell (M2 macrophages) and unique patterns of swelling and fibrosis (scarring within fat tissue). These features may contribute to pain and progression of the condition.

💡 This research highlights that lipedema is:
✨ biologically distinct from obesity
✨ marked by different inflammatory and structural fat tissue processes
✨ influenced by hormonal and cellular changes that we’re still learning about.

📊 While we still need standardized diagnostic tests and targeted treatments, studies like this are bringing us closer to understanding mechanisms behind pain, tissue changes, and disease progression.

If we exceed 100 families, I will do everything I can to expand — but only those on the list are guaranteed a meal.

✨ A rare situation with awesome results! ✨
My client came to me just 5 days after abdominal and flank liposuction. He had one lymphatic massage elsewhere prior to seeing me, which unfortunately involved deep tissue work only 3 days post-op - a painful experience that likely contributed to the early signs of fibrosis already forming in the flanks.

This was a rare situation. Without sharing too many personal details, the goal was clear: all swelling needed to be reduced below a 34" waist circumference, and no visible bruising - all within just two weeks.

It was a challenge - but we made it happen!

To ensure he received as much care as possible, I teamed up with Gloria from Kindred Hearts Therapeutic Massage & Wellness, who stepped in to handle a portion of the sessions to ensure the client could receive consistent MLD (manual lymphatic drainage) 5-7 days a week, and both of us bringing our skills and tips to the table, we were able to:
✅Reduce his waist from 42" to 32"
✅Eliminate all visible bruising within 2 weeks
✅Eliminate fibrosis that had already begun developing

This is a great example of how certified post surgical lymphatic training and collaborative care can make all the difference in post-op healing. ✨
