Beat the Heat 1-Mile Walk/Run, Williamsburg, KY

Beat the Heat 1-Mile Walk/Run, Williamsburg, KY “Beat the Heat" 1-Mile walk/run is raising funds for a community center for HAW children This race was started in 2010 by the Whitley County Health Department.

Williamsburg's annual "Beat the Heat" 1-Mile walk/run is a 1-Mile loop in downtown Williamsburg. The goal of this race from the beginning has been to benefit Whitley County families by providing air conditioners for those in need. In 2011, Christopher Chiropractic took over the race with the same goal in mind. Since 2011 over $5000 has been raised to provide cool air for those in need. In 2013, th

e "Beat the Heat" 1-Mile became Williamsburg's first "color run." Runners and walkers are splashed with colored corn starch as they complete the course. For the past two years this race has attracted over 500 participants and volunteers. It's a great event for the whole family filled with color, exercise and other surprises.

2015 marks an exciting year of changes for the "Beat the Heat" 1-Mile as we welcome Firestone Industries as a premier sponsor and partner for the race. Christopher Chiropractic, Firestone and the Whitley County Health Department will all join forces in 2015 to make the "Beat the Heat" the best one yet! The 2015 "Beat the Heat" 1-Mile will once again include "color" as we paint the town of Williamsburg PINK! Proceeds will not only provide air conditions for those in need but will also raise funds for the Whitley County Cancer Coalition. For more information contact Elizabeth at (606) 549-4811.
