Exciting news at OptiView Family Eyecare! ✨

We recently attended a conference to bring OptiLight IPL treatment to our office and expand our dry eye care services.

OptiLight is an advanced treatment designed to help manage dry eye disease by targeting the inflammation associated with meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). It can also help improve eyelid inflammation related to rosacea and telangiectasia, which are common contributors to chronic dry eye symptoms.

We’re excited to bring this innovative technology to our patients and help provide lasting relief from dry, irritated eyes.

👁️ What Happens During a Comprehensive Eye Exam?

A comprehensive eye exam is much more than just checking your glasses prescription. It allows your eye doctor to evaluate the health of your eyes from front to back and detect early signs of eye and systemic conditions.

Here’s what a typical comprehensive exam includes:

1️⃣ Pre-Testing
We check your vision with and without glasses or contact lenses to understand how well you see.

2️⃣ Autorefractor
This device gives an objective measurement of your refractive error and helps determine the starting point for your glasses or contact lens prescription.

3️⃣ Color Vision Test
Evaluates how well you can distinguish different colors, which can sometimes reveal certain eye or optic nerve conditions.

4️⃣ Eye Pressure Check
Measures the pressure inside your eye to help screen for glaucoma.

5️⃣ Doctor’s Examination
Your doctor evaluates several important functions including:
• Eye alignment
• Pupil reactions
• Eye muscle movements
• Glasses or contact lens prescription
• Slit lamp examination to evaluate the cornea, iris, lens, and other structures

6️⃣ Dilation & Retinal Evaluation
Dilating the eyes allows your doctor to examine the retina and optic nerve, helping detect conditions such as:
• Macular degeneration
• Diabetic eye disease
• Retinal tears or detachments
• Hypertensive eye changes

These images help document and monitor changes over time to protect your long-term eye health.

With over 28 years of experience, Dr. Gregory Jellenek has proudly served families in the Williamsburg community since 2000.

He specializes in comprehensive family eye care, with a strong focus on eye disease management and contact lens care—helping patients see their best at every stage of life.

Beyond the exam room, Dr. Jellenek has been a leader in the optometric profession, serving two terms on the Virginia Board of Optometry (including as President) and as Chief of Aerospace Optometry for the Virginia Air National Guard.

His dedication to excellence extends to lifelong learning through active involvement in the AOA and VOA.

He values family and community involvement and is married to Millet and a proud grandfather to Ali, Jak, and Kat.

Hi, I’m Dr. Siddhapura, OD!
I’m a Laser-Certified TPA Optometrist with a passion for providing comprehensive, personalized eye care for patients of all ages.

With experience in managing glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and dry eye, I work closely with ophthalmologists to ensure every patient receives the highest quality care.

🎓 Education:
• New England College of Optometry
• Rutgers University

💙 My primary goal?
To make every patient who walks through our doors feel truly cared for, heard, and confident in their eye health.

When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me cooking, hiking, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.
