We’re paws-itively thrilled to celebrate National Dog month and all the pups who call PSL home. 🐕

At our communities, furry friends aren’t just pets, they’re family. From wagging tails to happy trails on our walking paths, residents and their pups bring joy, love and a whole lot of tail-wagging energy to community life.

Share a photo of YOUR pup in the comments. We’d love to see the four-legged friends who brighten your day. 🦴💛

It's National Nonprofit Day, and PSL is proud of our 97 years as a nonprofit leader in senior living!

A number of significant differences exist between non-profit and for-profit senior living communities.

Research by senior advocacy groups found that sponsorship and ownership of a senior living community can affect its quality of care, including quantifiable differences such as hospitalization rates. In addition, non-profit communities are differentiated by their missions, commitment to serving residents and the public, types of stakeholders and other aspects.

We were proud to take part in “Advancing Affordable Missing Middle and Age-Inclusive Housing in York County,” a collaborative forum hosted by the York County Planning Commission, York County Community Foundation and York County Economic Alliance.

Our own Bethanie Constant, VP of Mission Support, and Paul McNally, Corporate Marketing Director, joined joined local officials, developers, and housing advocates to discuss how we can work together to expand affordable and age-inclusive housing options in our region.

As an organization serving more than 500 residents across eight affordable housing communities in York County, we see firsthand the importance of innovative, inclusive housing solutions. This event offered an opportunity to:
✅ Identify barriers to housing development
✅ Explore creative architectural models
✅ Share insights from our work in senior housing
✅ Build connections with others committed to housing access

A special thank-you to Cathy Bollinger (York County Community Foundation), David Gonzalez Jr. (York County Economic Alliance), and Mike Pritchard, AICP (York County Planning Commission) for facilitating this impactful conversation.

Together, we can build a stronger York County to ensure every generation has a safe, affordable place to call home. 💙

This week our Wellness Wednesday features Social Connection and Community!

At PSL, we know that meaningful relationships are the foundation of well-being. Whether sharing morning coffee with neighbors, joining the community choir or celebrating special events together, residents at PSL THRIVE through connections.

Studies from the National Institute on Aging reveal that seniors with active social lives experience better physical health, improved cognitive function, and longer lifespans than their more isolated peers. Regular social interaction has been shown to reduce the risks of cardiovascular problems, arthritis, and even some types of cancer. Strong social connections contribute significantly to cognitive health, with lower rates of depression and reduced risk of cognitive decline.

A key component of our THRIVE Wellness program, social connections promote a fabric on interconnection on our campuses. At PSL, we believe meaningful relationships are the cornerstone of a fulfilling lifestyle. Read more on friendships, connections and senior living communities:

PSL celebrated Diane Dantos, Volunteer extraordinaire and PSL Altruism Award winner for 2025, with a lunch for her and her family on July 10 at the Presbyterian Village of Hollidaysburg.

Diane volunteers daily from early in the morning (sometimes before 7am) until after lunch Monday through Friday enriching the lives of the residents in the personal care home. She brings purpose, meaning, friendship and laughter to their lives through her companionship, trivia, movement, song, stories, prayer, games and sharing of meals. She loves "spending time with her girls" and they look forward to spending time with her. She has been volunteering selflessly since June of 2020.

PSL, the team and residents at Presbyterian Village and all who have met Diane are lucky to not just call her a friend, but to call her family. You can't help but smile when you are near Diane. Diane, we are blessed to have you in our lives!

A huge Thank You to First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania for its recent grant of $6,050! This support helped the community purchase two new commercial-grade washers and a dryer. These appliances help the team manage the weekly laundry needs of residents more efficiently. With them, wash time has been cut from nearly 2 hours to just 27 minutes per load. “This contribution truly lightens the load for our team and has made a big difference in the residents' daily lives,” according to Renee Moore, Personal Care Home Administrator.

This weekend we're celebrating National Centenarians Day 💯 ... and the MORE THAN 75 Centenarians who live in our communities!

We are delighted to celebrate these residents as they achieve this milestone - and every year after! With our focus on person-centered care, each celebration is unique for each individual. We've shared birthday parties with small family gathers and community-wide festivities. We've invited former neighbors, church families and elected officials ... even the Philly Phanatic crashed one special party! We've had special music and special cars. We even had a firetruck parade, fulfilling one resident's lifelong dream to ride in a firetruck!

Congratulations to ALL our Centenarians! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and stories with your neighbors and our team!

In honor of tomorrow’s National Nonprofit Day, Presbyterian Senior Living is celebrating its status as a nonprofit provider of senior living services! Do YOU know the difference between nonprofit and for-profit senior living providers? A number of significant differences exist between the two options. For example, nonprofit organizations like PSL are able to reinvest funds into programs and services, as well as the community’s buildings and grounds. It’s an approach that allows them to deliver quality residential living and care in a supportive environment. Check out this blog post for more details and information:

Are nonprofit senior living organizations different from for-profit companies? Here’s what older adults and their families should know.
