This is coming up fast! On Thursday, July 24th there will be a harm reduction & overdose response training hosted by Central Vermont Prevention Coalition (in collaboration with the Barre City Fire Department).

Harm reduction and overdose response training are incredibly important tools in the effort to save lives and support people who use substances. This kind of training gives individuals the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in the event of an overdose, which can make all the difference in a life-or-death situation. It also helps break down stigma by encouraging understanding and compassion over judgment. Harm reduction doesn't enable substance use, it meets people where they are and provides safer pathways forward. Whether you're a provider, a loved one, or a community member, being trained can help you stay prepared and make a real impact.

Vermont CARES provides life-saving harm reduction services, education, and resources to Vermonters affected by HIV, Hepatitis C and substance use by increasing access to care, reducing social stigmas, and building relationships.

Mondays used to feel like a restart for all the wrong reasons. Now they feel like a fresh start I actually get to remember

Waking up clear, feeling steady, no more trying to piece together the weekend.

Sobriety makes Mondays a little brighter.
A little calmer.
A little more mine.

Here’s to starting the week strong and sober. 💪💪

THIS HAS BEEN POSTPONED!!! Due to the weather, this will now take place on July 26th. Hope to see you all there!

Finding balance in recovery isn’t just about staying sober- it’s about rebuilding your strength, your mindset, and your confidence.

We just posted a new blog on how combining strength training and cardio can support both your physical and mental recovery. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to switch things up, this one’s for you.

Recovery asks a lot of us. It asks us to slow down. To dig deep. To show up for ourselves even when we feel like hiding. Along the way, we pick up new

Gardening is a lot like recovery. You don’t just wake up one day to a full bloom. You start by digging into the hard stuff. You clear out the weeds, the old habits, the things that no longer help you grow.

Then you plant something new. You water it, even when you’re tired. You show up, even when it doesn’t look like anything is happening. And little by little, things begin to change.

Some days you grow. Some days you rest. But every day you’re building something stronger beneath the surface.

If you're in recovery, or supporting someone who is, what helps you stay grounded when things feel slow? Let us know in the comments. Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference.

When words fall short, music has a way of speaking directly to the heart.

For many in recovery, music becomes a powerful tool for healing. It can calm the mind, bring up buried emotions, or simply remind someone that they’re not alone. Whether it’s listening to a favorite song or picking up an instrument again, music helps people connect with themselves in ways that words sometimes can’t.

Recovery doesn’t always show up in big moments. Sometimes it sounds like a song that hits just right at the right time.

What songs have helped you feel seen or grounded in your journey?

Recovery is a lot like fishing. Some days the water is calm, other days it's rough. Sometimes you catch something right away, other times you sit there waiting with nothing biting. But you keep showing up. You keep casting that line because you believe something good is out there.

Sobriety takes patience, practice, and a lot of faith in the process. You might not always feel like you're making progress, but every day you choose to stay clean is another cast in the right direction. It's not always about the big wins either. Sometimes it's just about being out there, staying grounded, and appreciating the quiet moments.

Whether you're out on the water or working through another day sober, just keep going. Keep casting. Something beautiful is waiting beneath the surface.

**🌟 Celebrating Independence and Recovery this 4th of July! 🇺🇸**

As we gather to celebrate the 4th of July, let’s take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of independence—not just as a nation, but as individuals on our unique journeys of recovery.

Just as our country fought for freedom and resilience, many of us are also embarking on our paths to reclaim our lives and happiness.

✨ **The Correlation of Independence and Recovery:**
1. **Freedom from Struggles**: Just as the declaration of independence represents freedom from oppression, recovery symbolizes liberation from addiction or unhealthy habits. It’s a powerful journey towards self-discovery and self-empowerment.

2. **Strength in Unity**: Independence Day reminds us of the strength we have when we come together. Similarly, supporting each other in recovery creates a community that uplifts and encourages healing. Let’s celebrate the bonds we forge and the lives we support.

3. **Determination and Hope**: Our nation’s history is filled with stories of determination and hope. Likewise, every step taken in recovery is a testament to our resilience. Each small victory leads to a brighter future.

4. **Celebrating Progress**: Just as we celebrate our nation’s achievements, let’s celebrate our personal milestones in recovery. Whether big or small, every step is worth acknowledging.

As fireworks light up the sky this 4th of July, let’s remember that every spark represents the hope, freedom, and possibilities that recovery brings. Together, we can continue to strive for our own independence and inspire others to do the same.

Wishing everyone a safe and joyous Independence Day! 🎆❤️

Every day in sobriety is a chance to start over — to heal a little more, to learn something new about yourself, and to grow into the person you’re meant to be. No matter what yesterday looked like, today is a clean slate.

This quote, made popular by Johann Hari, shifts how we think about recovery. It’s not just about quitting substances. It’s about rebuilding relationships, finding support, and feeling like you belong somewhere again.

Addiction often grows in isolation. People use substances not just because of cravings but because of pain, trauma, loneliness, and feeling disconnected. Sobriety is part of the healing process, but connection is what helps it last.

When someone feels seen, supported, and valued, the need to escape begins to fade. That’s where real recovery begins. Not just in the absence of drugs or alcohol, but in the presence of community, purpose, and hope.

Most people don’t realize how much alcohol can affect the body. It messes with your sleep, raises your blood pressure, weakens your immune system and puts extra stress on your liver, heart and brain. Over time, it can lead to anxiety, depression and memory problems. Even moderate drinking can start to take a toll when it becomes a regular habit.

The good news? Your body is incredibly good at healing.

Once you stop drinking, your system starts to bounce back. Sleep improves, your mood lifts, your energy comes back and your mind feels sharper. Inflammation goes down. Skin clears up. You start to actually feel like yourself again.

Detoxing from alcohol is one of the best gifts you can give your body and mind. And if you need help getting started, we’re here to walk that path with you 💬
