OK so I’ll admit to something that’s a bit “taboo” in the aesthetics world: I’ve performed nearly all of my own aesthetic treatments.

🍪Nothing cookie cutter here 🍪

Lower face tox can be one of the most impactful treatments for the face. If done correctly it can help lift the smile, improve chin dimpling, and lift/reduce jowling AKA helping to sn**ch your jawline.

🚫Your dose is probably not your friends dose

When I am evaluating your lower face I am evaluating you at rest and with movement to determine your muscle strength, baseline asymmetries and choose the safest sites to place the tox to avoid hitting unwanted muscles. Sometimes we need to also inject portions along the jaw to hit platysma bands that can further pull the face down.

We need to consider how “tight” you want to keep the lower face—> “no movement” vs “relaxed and some movement.”

⏰Dose=Duration! “Relaxed” muscles will undoubtedly return to full movement much faster than “frozen” muscles.” When properly dosed, lower face tox can last around 6 months.

👆🏻These two ladies are sisters. One has a much heavier pull down with her DAO muscles due to activation from the platysma, as well as stronger mentalis pull. One received 24 units in the lower face including along the jawline. One received 16 units in the lower face.
