Mark, “the honey man”, paid us a surprise visit yesterday! I was so glad to see him making his come back after literally being ran over just outside our office where he sold honey this past May. It was unbelievable running up to that scene before EMS got there and realizing what had happened & that he was still alive. He is tough as nails, probably tougher! We witnessed a miracle that day, and it’s one that continues on as he has recovered exceedingly well from several broken bones and surgeries, and relearning to walk.
And on top of that he reminded me that he was a former patient of mine back in my residency days. We lost touch thanks to COVID and me graduating, and he had trouble finding me. I’m so glad that we got to reconnect with him, and that he’s doing so well ☺️

For the last 2 years I’ve had the pleasure of teaching this lovely, brilliant, and funny group of young ladies. Coming back to the OMM lab just won’t be the same without them. It fills my heart to see how much they’ve grown and how they appreciate me being their instructor. I can’t wait to see what amazing things these future OSTEOPATHIC PHYSICIANS will end up doing.

Most shoulder pain isn’t random.

Brad came in with pain and limited movement overhead.
What looked like a “tight shoulder” was actually an AC joint restriction, aka an AC Joint Impingement.

Once we identified the problem, we treated it—and his movement changed immediately.

Not all shoulder pain is the same.
And if you treat the wrong thing, you don’t get better.

If something feels off, it’s worth getting it evaluated.

There’s a reason why mama Eller had this set as a ringtone for me 🤪. From the very beginning I forged a way into medicine very few people take. I can’t explain how it all fell into place, I just never accepted a “no” or contentment. For no reason BUT God I became a physician.
The short version:
I was accepted into an accelerated nursing program at 18,and received my RN license at 20. Got my first job in a SICU that was difficult but gave me valuable skills that would set me up for success for years to come. I was drawing up and pushing morphine into IVs before I could legally drink 🤷🏻‍♀️ I still don’t know how that was actually legal 😂 it was at this point at 21 years old I knew I wanted to pursue more, and had a choice between NP OR medical school. I decided to swing big.

I made my way into an osteopathic school with only an associate degree. I refused to retake courses I already took bc MO & TX had different accreditation systems. I received a scholarship for decreased tuition and an extra year of training in OMT (a huge deal for private medical school education). I graduated top 10% without even trying, I found out the day of graduation 😅 I landed my #1 residency choice in Conroe, TX. There I gained incredible knowledge, and met my soulmate God picked for me,

I love teaching, and an osteopathic medical school opened up just down the street right as I am graduating residency. I’ve been teaching there now for 6 years.

Then the cherry on top, God blessed me with the opportunity to steward my own private practice, Healthy Self DPC. In 2 short years I’ve been blessed with a full panel of amazing clients and now looking I’m to expand and bring on more providers.

A lot people will chuck it up to smarts and discipline, but I simply see it as God’s grace and favor. God’s favor is wild y’all, let it fall on you & enjoy the ride!
