Your parent just spent five days in the hospital. The doctor says they're ready for discharge, but you know they can't go home alone. Maybe they fell. Maybe the medication management got too complicated. Maybe the hospitalization revealed how much help they actually need.

The hospital social worker is talking about skilled nursing facilities and rehab centers, and you're trying to figure out next steps while your parent is exhausted and confused.

This is exactly when families find us.
We can often accept new residents quickly when there's availability. Our caregivers can provide the monitoring and support needed after hospitalization. We handle medications, meals, and mobility assistance while your loved one recovers in a calm, home-like setting.

Many of our residents came to us directly from a hospital stay. Their families needed a solution that felt safe but not institutional. Somewhere their parent could actually rest and regain strength.

If you're in this situation right now, call us today at (713) 419-2609. We understand the urgency, and we'll talk you through whether cottage care is the right next step.

When families tour our cottages, they always ask what residents can bring from home.

The answer is: whatever makes them comfortable. We've had residents bring their favorite recliner, their piano, quilts their grandmother made, entire photo albums, even a collection of vintage hats.

Large facilities have restrictions.
Standard furniture.
Limited space.
Rules about what's allowed.

We want people to feel like they're moving into a new home, not checking into an institution. Personal belongings trigger memories and provide comfort, especially for residents with dementia who need familiar touchstones.

Your dad's bookshelf can come. Your mom's jewelry box has a place here. The coffee table they've had for forty years fits perfectly in the cottage living room.

This is their home. We're just here to help them live in it safely.

Your mom moved in six months ago needing help with medications and meals. She was walking independently, dressing herself, managing most of her daily routine.

Last month, she started needing more support getting in and out of the shower. This week, she's using a walker after a balance scare.

In many assisted living facilities, increasing care needs means moving to a different unit or level. New room. New staff. New routine. Just when consistency matters most.

Here, your mom stays in her same cottage with the same caregivers who already know her. We simply adjust our support. More assistance with bathing. Extra attention during transfers. Closer monitoring throughout the day.

The room she's made her own stays her room. The caregiver she trusts stays her caregiver. The routine she's comfortable with stays intact.

As needs change, our care changes. But home stays home.

"What if he hates me for this decision?"
"Am I giving up on her?"

These are the questions families ask us quietly, usually after the tour, sometimes with tears. We never rush these conversations because they matter.

Here's what we tell them: You're asking these questions because you love your parent deeply. You're researching and planning because you care about getting this right. That's not giving up. That's being responsible for someone who once took care of you.

Most families tell us later that the hardest part was making the decision. Once their loved one settled into cottage life with consistent care and companionship, they wished they'd done it sooner.

If you're asking these questions right now, you're exactly where you need to be. Thinking it through. Exploring options. Doing the hard work of loving someone well.

Sunday mornings look a little different here.

Our residents enjoyed a beautiful church service right in the cottage this week. There's something special about gathering together in a space that feels like home.

Grateful for our community partners who help us create these moments đź’™

Walk into most memory care facilities and you'll see locked units, alarm systems everywhere, institutional hallways designed to prevent wandering.

Walk into our cottages and you'll see a front porch, a kitchen, comfortable furniture. You might not even notice the safety features because they're woven into a real home environment.

People with dementia do better in spaces that feel familiar and calm. Institutional settings can increase agitation and confusion. We keep residents safe while letting them feel like they're living in a home, not a locked ward.

The goal is dignity and comfort alongside security. You can have both.

Yesterday morning, one of our residents spent twenty minutes telling our caregiver about the garden she kept for forty years. Every detail. The roses that never quite took. The tomatoes that came in so heavy one summer she gave away bushels to the neighbors.

She's told this story before. She'll probably tell it again tomorrow.

And our caregiver will listen tomorrow just like she listened yesterday. Because when you're caring for seven people instead of thirty, you have time for the stories. You have time to sit down. You have time to really be present.

That's what we mean when we say cottage care is different.

When you walk into our cottages, you won't find hospital beds, fluorescent lighting, or industrial flooring.

You'll find a living room with comfortable furniture, a kitchen where coffee's always brewing, bedrooms that residents can personalize with their own belongings, and a dining table where everyone gathers for meals.

The environment matters. Institutional settings can increase confusion and agitation for residents with dementia. Home-like settings provide comfort, familiarity, and dignity.

This isn't a facility trying to look like a home. These are actual homes where residents live with care and support surrounding them.

If you've been researching assisted living options and feel like the pricing never quite adds up, you're not imagining it.

Most facilities use a "level of care" model where the base rate is just the starting point. As your loved one's needs increase, so does the bill. For families trying to plan ahead, that uncertainty is stressful.

At Unlimited Care Cottages, we do things differently. One monthly rate. Everything included. No surprises.

We just published a guide breaking down exactly how all-inclusive pricing works, and the one question every family should ask before signing a contract anywhere.

Questions? We're always happy to talk. Call (713) 419-2609.

If you've been researching assisted living options in The Woodlands, Kingwood, or the greater Montgomery County area, you've probably noticed that pricing is

What happens at night?

It's a question every family asks, and rightfully so. Evening and overnight hours can be the most challenging for residents with dementia—that's when sundowning and confusion often peak.

Our caregivers live in each cottage, providing 24/7 care and supervision. When someone wakes confused at 2 AM, there's a familiar caregiver there—not a stranger on night shift who's never met them before.

We can assist with bathroom needs, offer reassurance during moments of disorientation, or simply sit with someone who can't sleep. Round-the-clock care isn't just about safety—it's about comfort and continuity.

Families sleep better knowing their loved one isn't alone.

Loneliness is a health risk that doesn't get enough attention.

Studies show social isolation increases dementia risk and speeds cognitive decline in older adults. But here's what those studies don't capture: the difference between being around 100 people and truly connecting with 6.

In our cottages, residents build real relationships. They know each other's families, share meals together daily, celebrate birthdays, and become genuine companions. Our caregivers facilitate these connections naturally because, in a home with just 7 residents, community forms organically.

We're not running activity programs to fill time. We're creating a household where people feel they belong.

Independence in assisted living doesn't mean doing everything alone, it means having support that meets you exactly where you are.

Some of our residents need help with bathing but dress themselves. Others manage their own breakfast but need medication reminders. Some are fully mobile; others use walkers and need steadying.

The beauty of cottage care is that we can adjust our support as needs change without anyone needing to "move up a level" or transfer facilities. Your cottage is your home, and we adapt our care as life evolves.

That consistency matters, especially for residents with memory challenges who thrive on familiar surroundings and familiar faces.
