I thought skipping breakfast would help me lose the baby weight…

That’s what all the old diet advice said, right?

“Eat less, move more, just push through.”

But as a mom in my 40s, that only left me feeling:

😩 Drained before 10am

😵‍💫 Extra Snappy

🥺 Stuck in a body I didn’t even recognize.

And the worst part? It wasn’t working.

What I didn’t realize is that skipping breakfast was wrecking my hormones —

Spiking my cortisol, slowing my metabolism, and setting me up for all-day cravings.

Especially in perimenopause… our bodies need nourishment, not punishment.

This is the kind of stuff I wish someone had told me 3 years ago when I had my son at 45.

Now for one of my Go-To Mom Fueled Breakfasts:

🥚 3 eggs scrambled
🍗 2 turkey sausage links or chicken patties

His tiny hand wrapped in mine is the reason.

I don’t workout to fit into jeans from 10 years ago.

I don’t move my body or fuel it well just to see a certain number on the scale.

I do it…

So I can keep holding his hand.

So I can keep up.

So I can stay present — for the little moments that mean everything.

Because when you become a mom later in life, you start thinking about time a little differently.

The truth is — I want to be here for as long as I can.

Energetic. Strong. Healthy.

Not just surviving the day… but truly living it, with him by my side.

If you’ve been putting your health on the back burner — I get it.

But mama, it’s never selfish to take care of yourself.

It’s an act of love… for you and for them.

Because every step we take beside them matters.

And every hand hold? We want as many as we can get.

Because that’s what moms do.

She couldn’t remember the last time she sat down to eat without being interrupted...

The last time she did something just for her without guilt chasing her down....

And maybe this Mother’s Day, we don’t just thank her for giving everything.

Maybe we also tell her:

You’re still allowed to want more.
To rest.
To be well.
To be seen not just as Mom, but as you.

Because you’ve been holding up everyone else.
But we see you…
We honor you…
