â Composition: EAAs (Essential Amino Acids) include all nine essential amino acids that your body cannot produce on its own. BCAAs (Branched-Chain Amino Acids) are a subset of EAAs, consisting of only three amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine.
â Role in Muscle Protein Synthesis: EAAs are generally more effective at promoting overall muscle protein synthesis (the process of building and repairing muscle tissue) because they provide a complete range of amino acids required for this process. BCAAs, particularly leucine, play a role in initiating muscle protein synthesis, but they cannot sustain the process without the presence of EAAs.
â Overall Benefits and Application: EAAs offer a broader range of benefits beyond muscle protein synthesis, including supporting various bodily functions like hormone regulation, neurotransmitter production, immune function, and overall metabolism. BCAAs are primarily known for their ability to support muscle repair and recovery, reduce exercise-induced fatigue, and provide energy during workouts. While BCAAs are useful for targeted workout support and reducing muscle soreness, EAAs offer a more comprehensive approach for overall health, recovery, and muscle growth, especially when dietary protein intake is limited.
