Today we celebrate the birthday of our incredible founder, Jon O'Connor. Jon was a fiece supportor of spinal cord reserch and services, not becuase he reaped the benefit, but because he saw the value and benefit for others. Jon was an incredible agent for change of the status quo. We will share these words of his to keep his spirit in our midst. "Happiness is when you think what you say and what you do is in harmony - To have wealth is to create value in others." ~Jon O'Connor

In 2003, Jon O'Connor working with Patrick Rummerfield created the program for NextSteps clinics in California, spreading to many other locations throughout the United States.
They were the first community/family-based non-profit centers for long-term spinal cord care in the United States.
Today there are many centers similar to NextSteps, all with one goal to provide extended quality care for a spinal cord and stroke community.
Our clinic today in Willow Springs specializes in advanced research & tech technologies, along with long-term care for our patients.
Jon along with Patrick Rummerfield are the pioneers of community-based SCI centers. Jon never gave up hope .He ran the clinic for 12 years and raised money for research throughout the world. He also continued working as a developer and a contractor along with his sister doing many large projects throughout the suburbs of Chicago.
He never let his paralysis, slow him down or stop caring for his fellow man.
And now you know the rest of the story. Thank you WGN for sharing this innovative rehabilitation for spinal cord injury.

There has been an extraordinary step forward in the treatment of spinal cord injuries. WGN's Dina Bair brings you the story on this edition of Medical Watch.

⭐️⭐️We are so excited to bring this technology to our community Next Steps of O'Connor Foundation! Our team completed training our new ARC-EX device this early this week and we have hit the ground running 🏃🏾‍♂️. Integrating this device into our clinic is a true milestone in spinal cord injury recovery. We are so excited to share it! 🙌.

🎉We are kicking off 2025 with the exciting news that we have officially made the first commercial sales of our ARC-EX System to the Harborview Medical Center at the University of Washington and Next Steps of O'Connor Foundation physical therapy clinic!

💫 UW is where much of the foundational research for ARC-EX was conducted, bringing the ARC-EX journey full circle from scientific discovery to reality for those living with spinal cord injury (SCI).

⭐ Next Steps Chicago aligns perfectly with the Company’s mission to provide access to this breakthrough technology in community rehabilitation clinics as well as major academic research centers.

The first sales came at the end of 2024, just days after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized marketing of the device on December 19. For the first time ever, there is an approved therapy to improve hand strength and sensation for people with SCI. 🌈

Currently approved for clinic use in the United States, we anticipate regulatory authorization for home use in 2025, and plan to seek CE Mark certification early this year, with the hope that it will be available in Europe in 2H 2025.

✨ It is so exciting for us that moving forward, every ARC-EX System sold will offer hope and possibility for people living with SCI.
