Today's healthcare market is definitely one for concern across the nation... For retail community pharmacies, this is definitely no exception! We work tirelessly to ensure our friends and family in our communities have what they need, even if it isn't typically something found in our local communities.
Having spent time through a variety of retail pharmacies in the past several years, I have seen multiple sides of healthcare approaches through pharmacy programs. Even though many feel independent pharmacy owners are competing with each other, or with chain drug stores like Walgreens, WalMart, HyVee, etc., these facts couldn't be farther from the truth. Community pharmacies serve patient needs in their respective communities, some with extra options and tools than others, but each serve a specific purpose for several people or they wouldn't exist where they do...
That being said: we are calling to all community members! There are current practices across this nation that are designed against your better health, coming directly from the parties supposedly responsible for ensuring proper access to the most cost-efficient healthcare available. However, we have seen a steep decline in retail community pharmacies, and continue to see this trend increase at alarming rates (with some recent years experiencing more than 1 pharmacy closing every single day of the calendar year)...
Please help us by reviewing and signing this petition to the Federal Trade Commission, requesting fair practices universally with transparency. There are current "investigations" under way, but by the time those turn into decisions predictions show continued closures which only makes it more difficult for communities, especially smaller and more rural communities such as Willow Springs... Share this to your pages, invite others, and continue to help your local community remain viable in healthcare with retail community pharmacy!
We respectfully petition the Federal Trade Commission to take immediate enforcement action against Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) for unfair, deceptive, and anticompetitive practices that threaten patient access, destroy competition, and accelerate the closure of retail pharmacies nationwide.
