I have long been a skeptic of the trendy Intermittent Fasting fad diet. There are certainly some folks who will lose weight practicing this, and it would help with some eating habits (like having a sugary food first thing in the morning, or that scoop of ice cream at night). But there is no real magic in limiting yourself to only eating within a 6-8-10-12 hour time window. True, if you are only eating within a small time window (6-8 hours), you can only consume so many calories before becoming full, so your daily calorie intake would be lower, thus you would lose weight. But how consistent can this diet be? Most folks would find IF too constraining to do on a long term or lifetime basis. A much better approach to nutrition would be to zero in on your daily habits and changing them slowly to eating whole foods, adequate protein, lots of natural fiber and water, and minimal processed foods. A good nutrition coach can help you find your eating plan that fits you and your lifestyle that can be maintained long term for optimal health.
