MYTH: Men do not get breast cancer.
TRUTH: Male breast cancer is a thing. Although, less common than in women, according to the CDC, 2,400 male breast cancer cases are diagnosed annually. In fact, men have a higher mortality rate than women because awareness amoung men is less common and they are less likely to notice a lump and seek treatment.

There are alot of misconceptions about breast cancer so this October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month), we are debunking some of these myths so that YOU can be educated and informed.
MYTH: Finding a lump means you have breast cancer.
TRUTH: Only a small percentage of lumps are actually breast cancer. However, it is important to complete regular breast self-exams and know your normal so that you can report any unusual lumps to your doctor. Annual mammogram screenings starting at age 40 are also recommended.
