School transitions hit hard! No matter what age or transition you are making it can be a big adjustment. Sometimes daycare starts at 6 weeks so that kindergarten adjustment can be rough!
Elementary to Middle another 5/6 years.
Private schoolers you are looking at 12 years of consistency then a jump to high school!
While changes can be exciting, it’s also a time to consider what it means to change up the routine in their “school families”. 180 days a year they have had familiar faces, places & routines.

Sometimes it a challenge to navigate finding the right words- check these out

Sometimes we face situations where, as adults, we are unsure, which can be really challenging with children around.

I found this graphic incredibly helpful for empathetic responses. As Sarah pointed out in the comments, ALL credit should go to WholeHearted School Counseling- who you should follow enthusiastically, like and share their work!

"Put your mental health first… that’s more important than any other medal you could win” - Simone Biles
💡🔓
Simone Biles, the 2024 all-around gold medalist from the Paris Olympics, embodies the true power of putting yourself first. At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Simone made the courageous decision to step back from the team competition to prioritize her mental health. This act of self-care didn't make her weak, it showed a true sign of strength and pushed her to even greater heights.
Now a passionate mental health advocate, Simone's journey showcases that seeking help is a sign of immense strength, not weakness. With 9 Olympic medals and 30 World Championship titles, she's the most decorated gymnast in history. Congratulations, Simone Biles - you are the ultimate symbol of resilience strength.

“These gut microbiota also talk with the central nervous system by secreting neurotransmitters, like serotonin and dopamine (about 90% of serotonin is produced in the gut and about 50% of dopamine).”

Science is awesome! Understanding how our body reacts to stress is important for our overall health. That’s why Delaware Balanced Families focuses on understanding and managing stress to improve the daily grind.

A new study finds people who are resilient in the face of stressful events have a different mix of microorganisms in the gut than those who get more frazzled.
