In honor of National Dog Day yesterday, we’re excited to introduce the beloved pups who proudly serve as the unofficial mascots of Brandywine Eye.

Doug – Dr. Shyu’s fun-loving corgi and best friend for many years. Doug never turns down playtime and can always be found with a tennis ball nearby.

Potato – Dr. Adam’s mini dachshund and true heart-stealer. You’ll usually find Potato curled up for a snooze or happily enjoying a pup cup.

Rosie – Coming soon! Dr. Strauss’ adorable Cavalier King Charles, and we’re already smitten.

At Brandywine Eye, family means everyone — and that includes our four-legged best friends.

At Brandywine Eye Center, we believe in celebrating the people who make your experience truly special. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing our incredible team — one member at a time — so you can get to know the faces behind your care.

First up, meet the MVP himself — Dr. Shyu!

In 2021, Dr. Shyu took over Brandywine Eye Center and has made it a place patients trust and love. Originally from California, he graduated from Drexel and specializes in cataract surgery and refractive corrective surgery, while also providing comprehensive eye exams.

Outside of the office, Dr. Shyu enjoys spending time with his wife, young son, and their corgi, Doug (who’s always learning new tricks). A lifelong sports fan, he’s recently fallen in love with tennis, and he also enjoys traveling whenever he can. Fun fact: Dr. Shyu is fluent in both Mandarin and Spanish, making it easy for him to connect with patients on many levels.

Guaranteed to be smiling 😊 Jennifer has been with the practice almost three years and knows all of patients by name (quite a feat since there are thousands) Jennifer wears MANY hats here at BEC but today is a birthday hat 🥳

We are celebrating another birthday 🥳 Happy Happy Birthday Sarah. Sarah has been on staff here at BEC for 3 months. Looking for a career change she answered Dr Shyu’s ad and we couldn’t be happier! Ophthalmology suits her to a T! When not searching for Sponge Bob and hanging out with her cats and friends she is immersed in everything ophthalmology. Call to set up an appointment and meet Sarah!
