Nate is the Hospital Manager at our Wilmington office!
He is always upbeat and cheering on his team. Nate doesn’t do anything halfway, he does it with gusto. He’s all in whether it’s connecting with new clients at community events or working his animal rehab magic with his patients. Nate is always ready to help support his team and our Wilmington community in any way he can. Our hospital wouldn’t be as bright without you Nate, thank you!

It's getting chilly! 🥶Cold weather can affect your pet's joints, skin, activity, and routines. Here are a few tips to prepare your pet for wintertime:
- Provide a warm and cozy space off of the floor and away from drafts
- Sweaters or jackets are great for short-haired, small or senior pets
- Limit your pet's time outside in the extreme cold
- Some pets' nutrition needs might change during the winter. Talk to your vet if you think this might be the case.

Happy vet tech&vet assistant week!!!

During the third week of October the veterinary community takes a moment to recognize our veterinary technicians and assistants.
You witness their skills and compassion in the exam rooms, but what happens behind the scenes is equally, if not more incredible. Our technicians and assistants know what everyone needs at all times. They know that when Spot comes in for his annual he prefers a peanut butter snack, his head to be pat and sweet nothings to be whispered in his ear while his blood sample is drawn from his back leg. They also know that the doctor is going to want to recheck that ear infection he had a few weeks ago so they’re already collecting, setting up and analyzing a sample under the microscope. They know what their patient’s blood pressure range should be under anesthesia depending on which drugs have been administered and they know what the doctor is going to ask for if it becomes too high/low. They know when their coworker needs an extra set of hands or an understanding nod. They know what treatment plan the doctor is going to recommend before the words are ever uttered. They know how nervous you are to drop your pet off for surgery and how much they mean to you so they treat them as if they’re their own. They’re calling the lab because they know you’re anxious for the results and they are too. They know which settings to adjust on the x-ray machine because the image is too dark. They know how to calculate the dose of sedatives for a chill 8 year old Great Dane as well as a 6 month old chihuahua that’s high on life. They know when to take their time and when time is of the essence. They know all of these things and so SO so much more, but one thing we want to make sure they don’t forget is how incredible we think they are.

September celebrations!

The school year is back in full swing, pumpkin flavored everything is re-appearing on menu boards and we're keeping our fingers crossed for cooler temps around the corner! While we patiently (or impatiently) await sweater weather...September will keep us busy celebrating this wildly talented crew!
To our September team members, we appreciate all of the joy, compassion and incredible skills you bring to our Whole Pet community. We hope you take the time to celebrate your awesomeness this month!

It's August already! We're kicking off this week with our August birthday and anniversary celebrations! This group of Whole Pet team members bring a variety of skills to our clinics, they are always looking for ways to care for our patients, clients, and communities. Join us in celebrating these go-getters!

Join our Wilmington rehab technician Nate at on Oleander Dr. this Saturday for some much needed relaxation. It will be an awesome time to chat with Nate about the rehab offerings at our Wilmington office and how your pet could benefit from them! Maybe even treat your pet to a new toy or snack since the store will be 19% off in celebration of their 19th anniversary.
Not sure what to pick? Toys that keep your pet busy and are challenging are awesome for the days that are too hot to partake in their usual outdoor activities! Sometimes something as simple as a frozen peanut butter Kong can do the trick. When it comes to treats, the fresher the better! We love a good freeze dried snack for our patients or keep it easy and free and give them a carrot or green beans from the garden.

Toys and treats aside, stop in and say hi to Nate to learn about how to improve your pet’s day to day comfort!

Going to the doctor brings out a lot of different emotions, fear, anxiety, nervousness…it’s no different for our pets. While we’d love every patient to feel the confidence to frolic in like it’s their favorite place to be, we understand and embrace that that isn’t always the case. Your pets come to see us once, twice, maybe a handful of times a year, it’s not a lot of time to earn their trust and companionship…that’s why every moment of every visit is so important. It’s why we select patient, calm, efficient team members and have prioritized creating fear free protocols from day one. We don’t rush appointments, we don’t push treatments your pets aren’t comfortable with, we work with you to work toward a positive experience, for everyone. Don’t hesitate to ask us for tips and tricks to improve your pet’s comfort when they come to see us, we’re here to help!
All of our patients deserve to feel comfortable and confident at the vet, like Maple, who started out quite skeptical of her visits, but now sits pretty for her exams.
