Kim Bolen McGrew, MA, LPA, LCAS is a clinical psychologist licensed as a Psychological Associate by the North Carolina Psychology Board and a Clinical Addiction Specialist by the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board. Kim received her master's degree in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, with an emphasis on substance abuse treatment. She h

as experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in outpatient mental health settings and community outreach programs. Kim is committed to providing a non-judgmental and trusting atmosphere to facilitate therapeutic growth. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process in which the therapist and client work together to achieve desired outcomes. Her therapeutic approach encourages individuals to enhance their self-awareness and confidence, utilize effective coping skills, and increase their motivation to reach personal goals. Kim treats a variety of emotional and behavioral concerns, including depression, anxiety disorders (e.g., generalized, social anxiety, OCD, phobias, panic disorder), post-traumatic stress, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, substance abuse/dependence, anger management, social skills deficits, academic difficulties, marital conflict, and military-related issues. Other areas of interest are stress management and helping people achieve a balance between physical, emotional, and social well-being. Kim is passionate about helping people communicate more effectively and improve their interpersonal and romantic relationships. Her treatment approach includes the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps individuals develop more effective thinking and behavior patterns and learn adaptive coping strategies. She also has specialized training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which supports values identification and achievement of goals despite difficult circumstances, and the Gottman Method, which provides research-based guidelines for improving relationships and marriages. Other specialized training includes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which is a beneficial treatment for people who have difficulty regulating emotions, tolerating distressing situations, and dealing with interpersonal problems effectively. Kim provides individual DBT coping skills training to adolescents and adults to help them find more satisfaction in their personal lives.
