✨ Teacher Spotlight: Dawnmarie

A lifelong fitness enthusiast, Dawnmarie was introduced to yoga by her sister years ago as a “therapy” alternative — and it worked!

Training:
• 200-Hour YTT with Jen Ryan (2020)
• 300-Hour YTT with Jen Ryan & Janice Mousseau (2024)

Three words to describe her classes:
Strength • Agility • Balance

Favorite Pose:
Malasana (Yogi Squat) — loving the strength and power this pose brings.

Music Vibe:
Her playlists have become audience-driven! While you’ll often hear classic oldies, the vibe is shaped by the class each week, with help from our talented “guest DJs,” Diane M. and Taylor C., who always bring the energy.

Her Intention for Students:
To explore new ways to build endurance, move freely and easily, and improve perceptual and reactive responses that can help prevent or reduce pain and injury.

Her mantra:
A good workout should leave you energized for life’s daily activities… and able to get off the floor!

Teaching since: 2017

Training:
• 200-hour YTT with Jen Ryan & Greg McGowan (2017)
• 300-hour YTT with Jen Ryan & Janice Mousseau (2024)
• Plus a few “I should really use these more often” trainings—including assisting and ball rolling (someday!).

Three words to describe her classes:
Fluid • Strong • Fun

Favorite Poses:
Standing pose: Utthita Parsvakonasana (Extended Side Angle)
Arm balance/inversion: Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm Stand)

Lori loves Extended Side Angle for the strong foundation of the legs, the expansive opening through the side body, and the opposing forces of the top arm reaching forward while the back foot presses firmly back.

Fun fact: Lori has a tradition of kicking up into a forearm stand every year on her birthday. 🎉

Favorite Music:
In one word: eclectic. Her playlists might include everything from RÜFÜS DU SOL to MC Yogi, Ludacris, and DMX—plus some pop, country, EDM, rock, rap, and a few great covers mixed in. She is who she is.

Her Intention as a Teacher:
Lori’s goal is to help students step out of their day and into their practice. She encourages people to move, feel strong, try something new, laugh, and not take themselves too seriously—there’s enough of that off the mat. Inspired by her teachers past and present, she hopes every student leaves class feeling better than when they walked in. 😌
