April 18 is National Exercise Day—a reminder that movement isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up for your body in whatever way you can.

For those navigating breast cancer—whether you’re in treatment, recovery, or survivorship—exercise can feel different. Some days it’s a short walk. Other days it’s stretching, deep breathing, or simply getting out of bed. And all of that counts.

Regular movement can help:
• Reduce fatigue
• Improve mood
• Support recovery and strength
• Boost overall well-being

At Going Beyond the Pink, we believe in meeting your body where it is—with compassion, not pressure.

Acid reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) is when stomach acid travels up the
esophagus and causes symptoms like heartburn or burning in the chest area. If you are experiencing acid reflux, it is good to avoid spicy foods, acidic foods such as citrus, tomato sauce, alcohol, caffeine and carbonated drinks. Consider elevating the head of your bed, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoiding tight fitting clothing. Eating smaller, more frequent meals and staying upright after eating can also help.

We love seeing important conversations like this happening in our community 💗

This upcoming conference, “Facing the Elephant in the Room — Together,”—hosted in collaboration with Lower Cape Fear LifeCare and UNCW—is focused on advance care planning, helping individuals and families talk through their values, wishes, and healthcare decisions before a crisis occurs.

These conversations aren’t always easy, but they are powerful—and necessary. If you or someone you love could benefit from guidance and support around planning ahead, this is a meaningful opportunity to learn, reflect, and connect.

📅 April 15, 2026
⏰ 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📍 UNCW Burney Center (Wilmington, NC)

If interested, Please RSVP to Jason Clamme through email at Jason.Clamme@LifeCare.org or call 910-796-7943.

Going Beyond the Pink would like to thank the incredible team at Novant Health Zimmer Cancer Institute. 💗

Because of your partnership, we were able to donate wigs, breast forms, and other essential items to support those navigating breast cancer right here in our community.

We’re grateful to work alongside a team that truly cares and shows up for patients in meaningful ways every day. And to our community - your support makes moments like this possible. Thank you for helping us give back in ways that matter.

REACH 2026 was almost two weeks ago, and we’re still holding onto the joy, connection, and powerful moments we shared together. 💗

We’re so grateful to everyone who showed up and poured into this experience. A special thank you to our incredible NCL volunteers for helping bring this event to life, and to our speakers and presenters for sharing their knowledge, stories, and hearts with our community.

And thank you to our photographer, Bill, for capturing these beautiful moments so we can relive them again and again.

April is Cancer Prevention & Early Detection Month—and taking care of your health is for everyone.

Early detection can make a huge difference, no matter your age, gender, or background. But we know that fear, cost, and access can get in the way of getting screened or checking in with your body.

This month, if you can, take one small step:

• Schedule that screening
• Pay attention to changes in your body
• Ask questions and speak up if something feels off

Your health matters, and you don’t have to navigate it alone. We’re here for support, guidance, and resources—because everyone deserves early answers and care.

Volunteer Request: Supporting a Family in a Difficult Time

Our Going Beyond the Pink community is coming together to support the family of a beloved survivor who recently passed away.

Her daughter has traveled from out of state and needs help packing up a moving truck to clear out her mother’s home. With limited time and a lot to manage, she could really use our help.
We’re looking for a few volunteers who can assist with packing and loading.

If you are available this Saturday at 3pm, please email maggie@goingbeyondthepink.org or comment here and we'll message you the details.
