While at FUTURE, Dr. Namboodri (PGY-2) was elected to represent residents nationwide at the AAFP Congress of Delegates. She’ll serve as an alternate in her first year, learning the ropes, before stepping into a voting role in year two. 🎉 Huge congratulations, Dr. Namboodri — we can’t wait to see all you’ll accomplish!

- Team volleyball matches that reminded us medicine isn’t our only sport 🏐😉
- And a surprise coconut on rounds to keep up the morale and our electrolytes 🥥💪🏼

June dump!

This month brought big feels and new beginnings. We said goodbye to our class of 2025 and welcomed a fresh crew of interns already diving into life at the hospital—and in Wilmington.

From exploring downtown and bonding over late-night bites to soaking up the sun on beach days 🏖️🌇, June was all about heartfelt farewells, new faces, and a few very therapeutic goats 😉.

✨🥼 White coats hit the Hill!
This weekend, a few of our residents and attendings braved the heat and traveled to DC for the Family Medicine Advocacy Summit, where we met with staff from both NC senators’ offices and several representatives. We showed up for our patients, our peers, and our future—advocating for Medicaid, Medicare, and loan forgiveness.

Grateful for the chance to turn passion into policy. 🩵🏛️

This Friday, our senior residents presented their capstone projects at the 2025 Capstone Day & Scholarship Showcase—highlighting the research, advocacy, and clinical inquiry that will shape the future of primary care.

We’re especially grateful to Dr. Albert Meyer, who launched this tradition 20 years ago and has attended every single showcase—even after his retirement in 2017. His commitment to cultivating curiosity and scholarly growth continues to inspire us.

From barriers to psychotherapy to pain outcomes with OMT, our residents are asking bold questions and driving meaningful change.

We are a family medicine residency program accredited by the American Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) with Osteopathic Recognition by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). We offer six residency positions in each year of training. Our mission is “Training Family Physicians to Lead their Communities to Outstanding Health.” We provide a wide range of training to prepare residents to care for their communities in whatever way is needed - and have a lot of fun in the meantime! We serve a diverse patient population, and our residency program and clinic strive to provide equitable care for every patient who walks through our doors. We have created services and developed initiatives intended to benefit groups that have traditionally been marginalized.
