Teammate Laura was presented with a $1,000 donation from Carl Schnepf on behalf of the Oak Island Elks Lodge, with a special request that the funds be used for supplies for our Veteran Pinning Ceremonies.

These ceremonies are a meaningful way we honor those who have served our country. For many veterans and their families, the moment brings pride, gratitude, and smiles.

Support from partners like the Oak Island Elks Lodge helps ensure we can continue recognizing our veterans with the dignity and respect they deserve. Thank you for standing with us! 🇺🇸

Our new Lumberton palliative care clinic, in partnership with UNC Health Southeastern, is officially open!

This first-of-its-kind clinic in Robeson County provides an extra layer of support for people living with serious illness. Palliative care focuses on relief from pain and symptoms, emotional and spiritual support, and guidance for patients and families navigating complex medical decisions... all while continuing treatment.

Care will be available in the clinic, at home, and through telehealth, helping ensure patients can receive support close to home.

We are grateful for the partnership with UNC Health Southeastern and for the opportunity to expand compassionate, patient-centered care in this community.

March is National Social Workers Month. At LifeCare, social workers walk alongside patients and families through serious illness, grief, and caregiving challenges. They listen. They guide. They help people navigate difficult moments with grace.

From hospice and palliative care to dementia support through LifeCare Memory Partners, social workers help families feel supported, informed, and never alone.

This year’s theme says it best: Uplift. Defend. Transform.

Throughout the month, we’ll share how they do exactly that.

Our Brunswick County clinical team recently joined the River’s Edge Veterans Association for their annual bowling fundraiser at Planet Fun in Shallotte. 🎳

REVA has been a longtime community partner, and several members also serve alongside us as volunteers on our Veterans Pinning Team, affectionately known as the “Blue Shirts.”

Pictured: Laura Albright, Social Worker; Sabrena Burleson, Director of Patient Care Services; Crystal Rickmon, RN; and Robyn Fitch, Social Worker — the “Pin Pal Gals” showing their support and enjoying time with our veteran community (and nice five-star hospice shirts team!).

We’re grateful for partnerships that strengthen connection, fellowship, and care for those who have served!

Caregivers come in many forms, and today, we thank them all. They are nurses and aides, social workers and volunteers, spouses, children, neighbors, and friends. They provide comfort, protect dignity, and offer steady support during life’s most challenging moments.

To every caregiver in our community, thank you. Your care makes a difference.

One common misconception about hospice is that it is a permanent decision. In reality, is always guided by patient choice.

Patients can pause hospice services to pursue curative treatment and may return later if they continue to meet eligibility criteria. This flexibility allows individuals and families to make decisions that align with their goals, needs, and evolving health circumstances.

When the interdisciplinary hospice team provides support and comfort, patients sometimes feel better. Reducing stress and uncertainty can provide relief for both patients and loved ones, especially when hospice is engaged early enough to make a meaningful difference.

Wherever you are on the journey, we are here to help.

It is a privilege to care for patients so families can focus on what matters most: being present with one another. To every caregiver walking this journey, you are not alone. We are here for you.

"It was both an honor and a sacred privilege to be my dad’s full-time caregiver, even through the most difficult season of my life—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. In his final days, I chose Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, and through that choice, God allowed me the gift of simply being his baby girl once more. I am forever grateful for the hands and hearts of the staff and volunteers who showed such love, compassion, and grace. I prayed, I hoped, and I fought for his healing, just as he always did for me. He was there for my first breath, and by God’s grace, I was there to hold his hand for his last. Thank you to everyone at the Bolivia facility for honoring him with dignity, surrounding him with peace, and giving me a comfort that truly passes all understanding."
