“If you can't attend, you can always drop by any WFD station at any time for a free car seat check, as long as crews are not responding to any active calls.”

Just wanted to remind y'all about the Wilmington, NC Fire Department's free car seat check event happening at the Fit for Fun Center (302 South 10th Street) on Tuesday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Did you know that more than half of all child car seats are not installed correctly? That's why the WFD is committed to holding these free car seat check events where certified safety techs will make sure your child's seat is properly secured.

If you can't attend, you can always drop by any WFD station at any time for a free car seat check, as long as crews are not responding to any active calls.

It’s that time of year for our annual staff appreciation day!

We will be closed tomorrow for our staff to enjoy some pampering at the spa! We appreciate all the hard work they do. ♥️

As always, we will have the on call nurses available if you need anything while we are closed. We will re open on Saturday for regular walk in clinic hours.

Happy National Dentist’s Day! 🦷🪥🩵

We appreciate everything they do to help maintain the health and hygiene of our patient’a teeth and gums!

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend that all children see a dentist by age one.

Dental checkups along with limiting sugar intake, and teaching good dental habits such as tooth brushing and flossing can help prevent tooth decay.

Vitamin A, at any dose, does not protect against measles and no parent should give to their child vitamin A in hopes of preventing measles. Vitamin A is a micronutrient, meaning very small amounts are all we need to stay healthy and we get those through a healthy diet and in recommended doses of over-the-counter multivitamin supplements. Larger doses of vitamin A given over prolonged periods are very dangerous and can lead to vomiting, blurry vision, headaches, and, when more severe, liver damage and coma.

It is recommended, that under a doctor's supervision, kids infected with measles be given vitamin A once a day for two days to reduce the severity of the illness. But that is a small amount in a medical setting. The only way to prevent measles is to get your child vaccinated with the MMR vaccine.
