Kelley Wheat-Rivers is celebrating 15 years with Liberty Hospice!

“The work is meaningful. Caring for people and their families through this significant time is valuable. Also, our Wilmington team has cared for two of my family members over the years.

Looking back, it has been astounding to think of how many people's lives I've been a part of. I don't know how many will remember me personally, but I know each circumstance has changed me in some way. It makes me think of the song in "Wicked." "Because I knew you, I have been changed for good." In my time with Liberty, the hospice team has changed so much. It's grown; it's shrunk. We've weathered losses among our team, Covid, and countless other situations. But at the heart of it must be care, compassion, and kindness - to ourselves and others."

Amy Huntley is celebrating 15 years with Liberty Health!

“I started in 2010 as the Administrator of Capital Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, moved into the Regional Director of Operations role in 2016 and became Vice President of Operations in 2017. I then had the opportunity to move into Risk Management as the Regional Director of Risk Management in July 2018. From there, I moved into the Director role June 2022.

I love the fact that Liberty is family owned, family oriented, and has always put quality first.”

🎉 Happy Anniversary! 🎉

Katrina Stanley is celebrating five years with Liberty Hospice!

“I started my time at Liberty as the clinical manager for our offices in Whiteville, Elizabethtown and Lumberton and then became the administrator in March of 2024. I am no longer attached to the Lumberton office by job title, but they will always hold a special place in my heart!

Currently, as the administrator of Whiteville and Elizabethtown, I get to work with about 40 employees who are literally the best! I share with the team often that even on our worst days, we still have the best team.

My favorite thing about working for Liberty is getting to grow and work alongside compassionate, purpose-driven, team-oriented people while doing the work we have been called to do. Having the opportunity to have a hand in someone’s life at one of the most fragile times is special and such a privilege.

Assisting with changing the mind set from hospice being about giving up to understanding that it is about showing up with comfort, dignity and love when it matters most is what the goal is for us as a hospice team. It is so rewarding to be a part of this journey as a hospice nurse. Even now that I am not in the field working bedside as much, hearing how our team has touched someone’s life or a story about how the patient and family have touched one of our lives is so warming and reminds me of why I chose to do what I do!”
