Why the hummingbird? 🐦✨

The hummingbird represents courage, flexibility, and resilienc, with a little joy mixed in.

It reminds us to stay present, adapt when life changes, and find moments of playfulness along the way.
Hummingbirds are often seen as messengers of love and optimism, encouraging us to slow down, release negative thoughts, and enjoy life as it unfolds.

A symbol of endurance, growth, and choosing joy… even in motion. 💙

Finding the right therapist matters. 💙

Therapy works best when you feel safe, heard, and understood.
The right therapist is someone you feel comfortable opening up to someone who respects your pace and your story.

It’s also important to consider availability, expertise, and the techniques they use. Different therapists bring different tools, and finding the right match can make a meaningful difference in your experience.

And remember, it’s okay if it takes time. Finding the right fit isn’t a failure; it’s part of the process.

You deserve support that truly works for you.

At LMV Counseling, we believe therapy should never be one-size-fits-all.

That’s why our practice brings together therapists with different specialties and approaches, all in one place. We work to match you with care that truly fits, whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationships, trauma, or life transitions.

Because your mental health deserves personalized support.

💭 What Does “Executive Function” Really Mean?

Executive function is like your brain’s management system — the set of mental skills that help you get stuff done. It’s how you plan, organize, focus, start tasks, stay on track, and follow through on what you intend to do. 🧠✨

When these skills are running smoothly, everyday life feels easier, from remembering appointments to juggling tasks and managing emotions. When they’re under strain, even simple routines can feel overwhelming.

In short, executive function is the brain’s way of helping you think ahead and act on your goals. 💪📅

Meet the Team: Katie Baker 🤍

Relationships aren’t always easy. Sometimes it feels like you’re having the same argument over and over, or like you’re talking but not really being heard.

Katie Baker is a couples therapist who helps partners slow things down, understand what’s really happening beneath the surface, and learn how to communicate in ways that feel safer and more connected. Her approach is supportive, grounded, and focused on helping both people feel seen.

Whether you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or just wanting to strengthen your relationship, Katie creates a space where you can work through things together.

You don’t have to figure this out on your own.

Valentine’s Day is about connection.

Every relationship has seasons of closeness and moments that feel harder. Loving someone means showing up, listening, and making space for each other even when it’s not perfect.

This Valentine’s Day, take a moment to slow down and nurture the connection you share. Small moments of care can make a big difference. 💗

“Where do I start?”

We hear this question every day.

Most people who reach out don’t have a diagnosis or a clear name for what they’re experiencing. They just know something feels off. Life feels heavier. Their reactions feel bigger. They’re not sleeping well. They’re overwhelmed, numb, or stuck, and they don’t know why.

And that’s okay.

You don’t need to know whether it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, or something else entirely. That’s not your job. Your only job is to notice that you’re struggling and to ask for support.
Therapy isn’t about having the right label, it’s about understanding what you’re experiencing and learning how to feel more like yourself again.

If you’re wondering where to start, this is it. 💙

Starting therapy can feel intimidating when you don’t know what to expect. Your first session is simply a place to begin gently, at your own pace. 💙

What to Expect in Your First Therapy Session
A gentle look at what your first step really feels like

It’s normal to feel nervous
Most people come in feeling unsure, hopeful, or a little anxious. There’s nothing you need to prove or explain perfectly.

It’s a conversation, not an interrogation
Your therapist will ask questions to understand you and what brought you in. You’re always in control of what you share.

You don’t need the right words
You don’t have to prepare or know exactly what to say. Silence, emotion, and uncertainty are all welcome here.

The first session is about comfort and clarity
We move at your pace, focus on safety, and help you understand next steps.

Coping skills don’t have to be big, dramatic, or time-consuming to make a real difference.
Sometimes the smallest practices — a deep breath, a step outside, a moment of stillness — can help your nervous system reset and bring you back into the present.
We’d love to know:
What’s one small coping strategy that helps you feel grounded when life gets heavy?
Maybe it’s:
• Stepping away from your phone
• Splashing cool water on your hands and face
• Listening to a favorite song
• Naming what you’re feeling
• Stretching your shoulders
Your comment might be the strategy someone else needs today. 💬💙
