A ten-hour progressive series spanning two weekends, designed for practitioners ready to delve into the Ashtanga Primary Series with depth and intention.

Whether you are coming to Ashtanga for the first time or returning with fresh questions, this series offers a structured entry into the sequence and the principles that animate its transformative power.

Over four sessions, we will build the primary sequence, honoring tradition while making space for experimentation, creative play, and thoughtful adaptation to increase accessibility. While offering a physical challenge, Ashtanga, at its core, is about moving with the breath and using breath as a means of awareness in the present moment. Ashtanga is a moving meditation that asks us to face ourselves: to see our patterns, examine the stories we hold, and do the work of being safely uncomfortable. It is in that process that we transcend perceived limitations and move toward more authentic versions of ourselves—rewards of which extend far beyond the mat.

Each session includes a lecture, physical practice, and a space to workshop postures and concepts. This is a progressive series; drop-in is not available and attendance at all four sessions is strongly encouraged.

Continuing education hours are available. Sign up early; space is limited!

Schedule:
Session 1 – Living Lineage: Tradition, Chants, and Theme & Variation Friday, May 29, 5:30–8pm

Session 2 – Energetic Enlivenment: Ujjayi, Bandha, and Oppositional Extension Saturday, May 30, 4:30–7:00 pm

Session 3 – Inward Looking: Drishti, Transitions, and the Closing Sequence Friday, June 5, 5:30–8pm

Session 4 – Moving Meditation: Full Primary and Inversions Sunday, June 7, 4:30–7:00 pm

Join Diane Whitehurst, RYT 500, for a grounding evening devoted to the power of your breath. This 75-minute experience will guide you through a variety of intentional breathing techniques designed to calm the nervous system, release stored emotional tension, and invite greater mental clarity.

Through gentle, seated and mindful breathwork, you’ll create space to reconnect inward—softening the mind, steadying the body, and restoring balance from within. This practice is accessible to all levels, whether you are new to breathwork or deepening an existing practice.

Meet Brinson Leigh- our Ashtanga yoga instructor here at BeUnlimited! Beyond yoga instructor- Brinson Leigh is a dancer, writer, artist and generally speaking-a pure creator of sorts that offers a very unique and grounding spin-off of the traditional Ashtanga Primary series- making it accessible and workable to all. Her way of communication, patience, keen eye for her students needs and deep respect for the practice is unmatched.

In her own words:
“In yoga and art, I’ve been exploring how to resist commodification culture by prioritizing process over product—the internal landscape over external outcomes, transitions over postures, breath over achievement. It feels great to hold a handstand, but there’s a tendency to conflate transcending perceived limitation with external validation. What if we prioritized grace as awareness from point A to point B, rather than the final form?

If you show up and pay attention, your practice will improve. And ultimately, those physical abilities will shift with age. What endures is grit, interoception, introspection. I love playing with impossible physical feats, but doing so in a way that refuses to reduce body and mind to commodities—a continuous inward focus that points me toward uncovering who I actually am in each new now moment.”
