Yesterday was a day that will stay in my heart forever. I had the honor of supporting two incredible mothers in labor at the same time. Their beautiful babies were born just hours apart. I stayed up for nearly 48 hours, with only small rests in between, but every moment was worth it.

My heart overflowed with gratitude when one mom, cradling her newborn, looked up at me with tears in her eyes and said, "I could not have done this without you!" In that moment, I felt the profound impact of this calling.

I thank God for guiding me onto this path and for the strength to finally listen and not make excuses. This journey has been nothing short of miraculous, and I am deeply grateful for the trust these families place in me.

Happy Mother’s Day from Sankofa Maternal Wellness! Today, we celebrate all mothers, expectant moms, moms of angel babies, bonus moms, and every woman who plays a nurturing role in someone’s life. Today, we honor you. Today, we honor ourselves.

The truth is, our children lead us to incredible places, including the journey of birth. From my first experience in September 2018, navigating the whirlwind of emotions as my daughter entered the world breech via cesarean, to the transformative experience of achieving a successful Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) in April 2023, completely naturally—both journeys shaped me, molded me, and led me to a profound realization of the power within.

These experiences ignited a passion within me to support women in commanding their births from the very start. Whether you’re embarking on motherhood for the first time or are a seasoned mom, let me help you awaken your inner goddess, embrace your strength, and navigate your birth journey with confidence and empowerment. For those who may not know, Sankofa is a beautiful African word that means "go back and get it." 🌿 It embodies the idea of looking back to our roots, our traditions, and our wisdom to move forward with purpose and strength. And that's exactly what I'm all about!

As a perinatal doula and lactation support specialist, my mission is to provide nurturing care and guidance to expectant and new mothers every step of the way. 🤱🏾Whether it's offering emotional support during pregnancy, assisting with labor and delivery, or providing invaluable lactation support, I'm here to empower and uplift you on your motherhood journey.
