A friend gifted me these amber colored glass mushrooms. She said, “be a mushroom. Grow through s**t.” We can be extremely resilient. And we can make it through s**t with grace, coming out the other side with beauty and perfection in our own way.

I’m shifting my goals of work/life balance to life balance. The dichotomy of work/life implies that work opposes life. But my world consists of so much more than what I can categorize into “work” and “life”. My practice and my kids are major parts of my life. Refocusing on a life balance makes room for all the intricate, complicated, wonderful things that life gives us.

I‘ve been dreaming about this point in my life for many years. I’ve grown and changed and so have some of my goals. My dreams evolved and became clearer as I kept moving. So, although it’s not exactly how I first dreamt it, it’s better than I ever could have dreamed. I’m grateful for where I am now because it feels like it’s where I’m supposed to be.

Coffee is great! Free coffee is great! My family and friends are great! Gratitude is my word lately. I’m grateful for all these things I have in my life. Life is good! And that’s as great as it gets!

Things don’t often go exactly as planned. This was supposed to be an especially productive week for me. Instead I’m recovering from a winter cold and tending to sick children. My skills for this type of week are radical acceptance and flexibility. I’m too tired to focus on much else. 😊
