Cutaneous aging is definitely unwelcome, but the physiological process which progressively leads to deterioration of the skins structure and integrity, and the reduced ability to repair itself occurs not only in our face, but in our hands and forearms as well. This not only poses risk of infection, scarring, and constant attention to keep covered and protected, but also is just as aestheticly unpleasing as fine lines, and wrinkles to some patients.
Chronological aging, and the constant exposure to UV radiation as we age is definitely a contributing factor. These conditions can also be caused by blood thinners or trauma. This patient has not experienced any major direct trauma but only bumps into things which caused skin tears and significant bruising.
Knowing the rejuvenating, biostimulation, and collagen production related to calcium hydroxyapatite, or Radiesse, we knew it was the only way to try to improve this patient’s skin integrity, quality, elasticity, tightness, and firmness. We decided to fan hyperdilute Radiesse to her forearms and hands.
We are in shock that in only 4 weeks she has already benefited from this filler that will last 18 months and produce her own collagen. This means she gets to take it with her for a lifetime. Her arms have not looked this good in years!
Studies have shown Radiesse improves skin thickness, laxity, and wrinkles in 95% of 30-40 year olds, 80% in 40-60 year olds, and 70% in 60+ year olds, with an overall average improvement of 81% for the general population.
Radiesse Is a substance naturally present in the human body. This means it is fully biocompatible, biodegradable, doesn’t hold water (i.e. puffy filler face), and doesn’t work by causing an inflammatory response like other biostimulators.

Outside of work, Lisa loves spending time with family and friends, going to dinner, and seeing live music. She loves being near the water, so enjoying beach time year-round is part of what Lisa loves about being back in Wilmington.

We are happy to be one of the few practices offering a safe laser for darker skin tones. Did you know there was a laser that uses minimal to no heat? We have the Quanta Q Plus C. This is a Q-switch laser that is photoacoustic and not photothermal, meaning it doesn’t use heat. It fires so fast, a billionth of a second, to treat pigment and tattoos. This is an excellent option for darker skin types. The laser can help IN MOST cases, but PHOTO PROTECTION IS 80% OF the battle when treating melasma. Let’s talk about the creme de la creme of lasers…the Helix CO2 with one of our favorite before and afters! With this laser I’m able to customize her settings to various areas of her face. I treated her under eyes different than her lips, and treated the rest of her face differently as well. Each had different settings and I passed over them in different ways. It’s all CUSTOMIZED✨! It’s still summertime but Fall is just around the corner. That means scheduling your treatments or getting a consultation should be on your calendar! When you book, make sure to see if your provider has before and afters and if they know how to use the laser more than one way. Not one person has the same skin as the other. Some providers even use the same settings for everyone or don’t adjust for different areas…this won’t get you the results you’re looking for. What are Biostimulators? Here we used Radiesse. It’s a bio stimulator that can last two years and fill your own collagen. It’s incredible for improving the look of glow more useful, healthy skin. A cannula is a blunt tip needle. It is used instead of a needle for many reasons. In this procedure it’s used to spread filler under the skin in a very thin linear lines to help tighten the skin and produce its own collagen! It is not painful as you might think. It glides under the skin with a skilled handed injector. The only bruising that may occur is a the sight I place the pilot hole to introduce the cannula. This is a LONG ONE- 70 mm It also allows us to put filler in larger areas on the face and body without a lot of needle sticks and multiple bruise! I love cannulas 💚
