Stillpoint Counseling and Wellness

Have a great weekend! 🌅

While Rob is Stillpoint's Substance Use therapist, he also works with adults just looking for solutions to balancing life in general. In addition, Rob works with parents of children with disabilities and medical complications that are looking for support and parenthood skills.

He utilizes a strength-based approach that focuses on his clients' positive attributes and abilities. He is inspired by creativity, so for some clients he incorporates music, art, and other creative techniques into sessions!

If you are interested in scheduling with Rob, call (910) 769-6360 or request an appointment through our website:

The Men's Support Group will be meeting next Monday, April 11th!

Unmanaged chronic stress can lead to anger, relationship issues, family discord, and even anxiety or depression. The best way to make sure that you can take care of everyone else is to take care of yourself first! And one way to take care of yourself is by finding support from other guys going through similar stuff.

Group members should expect to participate in conversation to the extent that they feel comfortable, provide feedback for other group members, and learn and practice effective strategies for managing stress.

To sign up, visit or you can call the office at (910) 769-6360

More often than not, drug addictions start with an experimental use of a drug in social situations. And for some people, the drug use becomes more frequent. As time passes, a person may feel the need to use more of a drug to get their desired high, and soon a person may need the drug to simply feel “good.”

Within addiction counseling, the symptoms of addiction will be addressed and the related areas of impaired functioning, and therapist and client will structure the time and content for ongoing recovery.

Rob Burg, LCMHC, LCAS, works with clients wanting to adjust or end their substance use habits and take back control of their life, as well as sober folks looking for extra support in their continued recovery.

📞 (910) 769-6360

This week, Stillpoint therapist and Licensed Addiction Specialist, Rob Burg, gives some insight on this Sober Curious movement and what it's like living with the pressures of using substances.

He says, "In a nutshell, being sober curious is having the option to choose, question or change one’s substance use for physical or mental health reasons [...] There is still a lot of stigma about substance use being a “moral” problem or something that is a bad reflection upon the individual."

"Choosing a sober life is an opportunity, not a sacrifice"

Choosing to cut out drugs and alcohol from your life, or even just a night, a week, a month, or however long, don't mean you are sacrificing anything. It is truly an opportunity for you to be in your natural state of mind and that is beautiful! Especially if you feel as though those substances are controlling you in any way. Choosing to be sober is an opportunity to take back that control! It may not be easy, but there are folks that can be there to support you.

Did you know, Stillpoint has a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist? Rob Burg, LCMHC, LCAS, works with adult clients looking for support with substance use issues. This may look like creating a healthy relationship with substances and/or moving towards a sober life.

If you or a loved on is looking for an opportunity, reach out!! Call the office (910) 769-6360 or check out our website (link in our bio) for more info about Substance Use counseling and Rob Burg as a therapist.

🌼 Healing through yoga: A mind & body approach 🧘‍♂️

Yoga Therapy helps you understand unique aspects of your nervous system and use this knowledge to develop tools to regulate emotions and cultivate greater balance in your life. Yoga can be used as part of stress reduction program, supporting the balance of a dysregulated nervous system after trauma, or as part of mind-body wellness.

Yoga Therapy is not about fixing or curing, it’s a process of self-discovery and self-realization. Show up as you are – All bodies and abilities welcome!!

Feel free to contact us to ask more about this if you are interested and check out more about each of our yoga instructors by visiting our website!

Every 62 minutes someone in the US dies as a result of complications from an eating disorder. Eating disorders are a persistent and growing concern in our community, and symptoms are often present starting in adolescents.

It is also important to note that disordered eating occurs on a spectrum from normative eating with a healthy body image to disordered patterns of eating and finally ending in a clinical eating disorder. Many adolescents and adults report struggling with body image, preoccupation with weight, and have a history of dieting. These patterns of behavior are important to be aware of and may be an ideal time for individuals to seek help. Best practices for health care would include working collaboratively with a medical provider, therapist, and nutritionist to safely change behaviors.

At Stillpoint, we have options:

🛋️ Professional counseling for those who believe they or their loved one is struggling with disordered patterns of eating or need support due to past struggles.

🧘 Yoga Therapy for those wanting to develop a relationship of trust and safety in ones body.

📞 If neither of these things seem quite right for you, feel free to call the front desk and we can help direct you to the right place.

💻 Check out our website,, to find out more about Stillpoint and the services we offer.

This week, Yoga Therapist, Lillie Hewitt, gives some insight on what yoga therapy is and how it can help in ones healing journey. She says, "In Yoga Therapy, we recognize that the body has wisdom and insight to contribute to therapeutic dialogue."

"I release self-criticism and choose self-love"

When we choose self-love over our self-criticism, we gain control of our thoughts and can acknowledge that the negative ones are lies. There is not need to be so hard on yourself. You are worthy of self-love!

Andrea teaches us a lesson today that begins with stoping... and in that pause we allow ourselves to start, to grow and begin to 'awaken'. With this tool, we are able to be more present in any aspect of our life, on and off the yoga mat.

“At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshless;
Neither from nor towards; at the still point, there the dance is,
But neither arrest nor movement. And do not call it fixity,
Where past and future are gathered.
Neither movement from nor towards, Neither ascent nor decline.
Except for the point, the still point, there would be no dance, and there is only the dance.”

If you forget to be peaceful, try some things. Forgive, trust, love yourself. Be still, be kind, be gentle. Do things until peace returns...

Be gentle with yourself. Rest until peace returns...

"Don't worry and fuss about what you're going to do tomorrow, or how tomorrow's answers will come. The way to get through a task, a day, a life is to stay in the present moment...

✔️FACT: Depression is not a weakness, but a serious health disorder.

✔️FACT: People who are depressed may feel sad, or other symptoms include irritability, lack of energy, change in appetite, substance abuse, restlessness, reckless behavior, or otherwise unexplained physical ailments.

✔️FACT: Almost 75% of teenagers who experience an episode of clinical depression will experience another one in their lifetime. Take time to check in with yourself and loved ones that have been treated for depression.

👉️ We understand the social stigmas that come with the label of being depressed, and thus aim to help clients sort out their environmental, biological and circumstantial factors while offering support and care through a very dark time in their lives.

If you are hoping to finally lighten this load and feel like yourself again, contact us today so we can schedule an appointment.
