Dr. Challis Russell provides culturally-informed, trauma-aware therapy for clients ages 12 and older who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma/PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating concerns, family or relationship stressors, and LGBTQ+ issues. Her clinical interests include African American mental health, epigenetics and inherited trauma, all of which inform her culturally sensitive and holistic approach. Her work is grounded in creating supportive and empowering spaces such that clients can explore their experiences, strengthen relationships, and make meaningful change.
Dr. Russell specializes in couples therapy, assisting clients to improve communication, navigate conflict, rebuild trust, and deepen connections. Before becoming a psychologist, she worked as a teacher which enhanced her ability to collaborate with families and understand the systems that impact emotional and relational well-being.
Trained in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy, Dr. Russell integrates relational, interpersonal, and creative approaches to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. She incorporates integrative art into sessions for clients who find healing through creative expression.
