Thanks Smokey for the reminder that I graduated from UTK (University of Tennessee at Knoxville) 10.9 years ago!

My Master’s Degree in Public Health was an extension of my knowledge base about healthcare, systems and policy that has shaped the care I deliver and the advocacy work I do.

My memories of my time are intertwined with my first clinical practice and my journey through motherhood. I found out I was pregnant with our first just a few weeks into my first semester…. And found out I was pregnant with our second son just weeks before graduation. Ultimately I chose to continue private practice with my husband in the chiropractic profession due to the discrepancy between work/life balance (ironically) in public health related fields. I wouldn’t change the past 10 years one bit!! We still have plenty of time left to change the world.

Posture In Plain Sight: Ergonomics for Health, Efficiency & Profitability

Dr. Holly Tucker, Chiropractor, joined the ProfitCON stage this year!

Certified Profit First Professional and licensed Chiropractor in practice for nearly 15 years, Dr. Holly spoke on “Ergonomics for Health, Efficiency & Profitability”

During this interactive session, Holly talked about the personal and personnel burden of musculoskeletal pain – in a room of accounting professionals.

This session meant to bridge the gap between a workforce that largely works from a desk on how to take effective posture breaks to maintain spinal health.

The room was lined wall-to-wall with a mini-posture break stretch to remind every one of neutral posture!

Just me and famous author - author of Profit First and several other entrepreneurship books.

This year at the annual ProfitCON event, they recapped the past 10 years of promoting the method around the world. The book has been translated into 30 languages, and there have been 17 derivative books written (example, Profit First for Chiropractors).

I read the original book in 2017 and it instantly clicked for me. I had to implement the method, and I found myself recommending it to other fellow small business owners, especially women in chiropractic. In 2020, I decided to become certified myself to start coaching others. In 2021, I joined - a full service remote accounting firm that serves a variety of industries and professions. Yes, all this while still practicing and raising a family!

This was my third time attending ProfitCON, and meeting Mike. He is always such a gracious host - including throwing a big ol family BBQ in his backyard!

I’m grateful for the organization, for knowing Mike and Ron (co-founder of PF Professionals), Karen (owner of BYB) and I look forward to continuing my knowledge in the financial services industry and even a bit in personal finance!

This work comes naturally to me — and I invite anyone who is interested in having a safe space to discuss money, business and financial goals in their life & career to start a conversation! It truly is exciting to connect the dots.

13. Thirteen lucky years ago, my future husband and I graduated from chiropractic school

As I reflect on this day, I think about all the different roles I’ve held over the past 13 years - personally and professionally:

1. World Health Organization Intern
2. Wife to a chiropractor
3. Clinic ownership with my spouse
4. Master’s Degree student
5. Mom to 2 chiro kids
6. Associate Chiropractor (Memphis)
7. House Call Chiropractor (Memphis/COVID)
8. Podcast Host
9. Business Coach (Profit First / )
10. ACA State Delegate (Tennessee & North Carolina)
11. Mentor & Speaker to student groups
12. WFC Board Member
13. Start-up solo entrepreneur

There have been seasons over the past 13 years — of wanting to give up completely, to having a total blast, experiencing imposter syndrome and absolutely loving the interactions I have with patients.

I remind myself often how “simple” the work is that I do. The basics of how to live a healthy lifestyle and heal from injury often look very similar patient to patient, but with that comes nuance and unique responses to care. While this work does come “naturally” after all these years of experience, it doesn’t always make every day easy.

My motivation to become a chiropractor and my academic success was largely a ME thing; my career path has been formed by the WE thing - Jude and I doing this together over the years (in our own ways and side-by-side).

I look forward to continuing to grow and learn in my own career, support his goals, our life, and my personal roles as a wife, mother and friend.
